How would you rate yourself as a player...GUITAR player that is.
Let assume for the sake of this discussion that Neil is a ten(10), and a person who is still working on basic chord, and putting them together is time and has not yet mastered bar cords is a one (1).
How would you rank yourself on a scale from 1-10. (this info could prove helpfull for the Target Team is determining lesson levels)

Tough to do. I can play some songs at around a 5 or 6 level- but I'm a 1 or 2 when it comes to theory and scales.
Bottom line is I've got a long way to go.

I can play some fairly complex stuff, some pretty fast stuff, and a tremendous number of songs. I can sing an play at the same time.
But there is always something new to learn, always something you can play better, always ways to improve your playing and knowledge.
I am and always will be a constant beginner.

Like Doc, I am a "constant beginner" (I like that) On the scale: two maybe three. Still learning to control a pick and maintain a consistant strum pattern. Can move between the chords easily enough but some are not clean-- still muted. Fred
I would say 3-4 generally would be a good place as a guitar player since my goal is to be able to play with other people. Can play some advance stuff, but have very little sense of rhythm, very weak in theory (but improving thanks to the lessons), not much ear.

I am with Al......I can get through some of the 5-6 level songs with a few mistakes, but still have a lot to learn in areas of scales and theory. I would probably give myself a solid 3-4 (to reference the other thread out there about sucking though, sometimes it would be a not-so-solid 1-2......lol).

See, now I was thinking I *might* be able to claim 4, but if dekotaj is claiming a 4, then I'm about a 2. And, now that I think about it, that is about right.
Topics like these, in my humble opinion, often spawn alot of false modesty responses -- so one wonders about their validity, or at least I do. If I honestly rate myself relative to Neil, I have to say I really am about a 2 or 3. But, there are those moments when I feel great and I feel like ... well ... at least 10 bucks!
I also suspect this scale is logarithmic (logarhythmic? sorry...): the jump from 2 to 3 is nowhere near the same size jump as from 8 to 9.
