Who'd like to lay down the basic guitar track that we can use as a reference with the midi file?

Hi Chris,

I'm happy to lay down the basic guitar track. I can do this on Monday, if we've settled what we need by then. Otherwise, I won't be able to get to it until next weekend.

Chris, I've had a few goes using your latest post. I need some guidance when you think the OOhhhs and Ahhhhs should come in and also what you are thinking regarding leads re: vocals?? Seems like some backrgound Hmmmm or Ohhhs starting at "To late, to save myself from falling --- then harmony at "Don't let the sun go down on me --. We have plenty of time to figure this out but I'd like an idea of where you see me coming in and what lines, if any do you want me to sing an octave below you. It would be helpful, eventually, to have you singing the whole song so we can get familiar with your timing on different parts of the song. Gary BTW your new Badge looks really cool on you!!

Stuart, that's great, please do that. You can use the last video I posted and or the midi file posted. Did you download the midi yet? I will get up another video singing the whole thing through to the end in the next few days (I haven't practised the last verse yet). We can email about how you do the recording.

Gary. I'd like the backing singers to decide what they do and where they put in the ohs and ahs by listening to the origninal and deciding what could work. We need someone to volunteer to lead that job. I will if no one else wants too but it would be great if one of the vocalists would lead that part of the project. I'd love it if you would sing the whole song as the lead singer. We can later decide how to mix, or make two versions or do a george Michael/ Elton job on it. Ric is also going to sing the whole song so that makes 3 of us and we'll see how we fit and mix.

Chris,

Got the midi file and am playing through it now. I'll record a couple of variations on the strumming pattern so you can choose what provides the best backdrop on which to build.. Shouldn't be any trouble to get this back to you tomorrow.

Chris I just started reading this thread - still on page one. What a great idea. I certainly like your first version (I let it download for ages!!) - (haven't seen the second). Given the deadline I'm thinking I'll try to contribute something - maybe even singing (but I'm not promising anything) the F# was fine for me - but I don't know what key you're in now. I'll have a read of everything when I get home from work this evening.

Pizza points to you - or whatever is welcome and appropriate in Swizz time - for the sterling idea.

Michele

Thanks Michel .. great to have you back! You must have heard me; I was singing away to a midi file of Michelle as you posted.
Love to have you join the vocalists!

By the way I've taken a closer look at the chord sheet we have and I've made some changes after listening carefully to the midi file... let me know if you agree... when so, then we'll the file below is the one we should use: http://www.totallyguitars.com/images/fb ... 100214.doc

Hi Chris,

As looked more closely at the score, it became apparent that working out a proper strumming pattern will be considerably more complex than I'd first imagined, so I decided to import the midi into GP5 and will work from there. I think this is the right way to go and then we will also have a GP5 reference from which to work. Andy has asked that I also send him a copy of the strumming pattern following his own notation, which I can easily do once the GP5 arrangement is complete.

Stuart

In doing this, I noticed in the midi file that there is a bar that is incomplete (81)and some that are overfilled (62, 77, 79). Perhaps this is an artefact of the GP5 import, but it also appears to be 78bpm rather than 74bpm. I'm assuming we are in agreement that it should be the latter.
