Al and Helen,
The words..... I've just woken up and what a way to start my day. I don't have the words to do justice to your post. It was beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, haunting, sad, .... just lovely, but SO much more. It sounds like material from one of my favourite Aussie duos Angus and Julia Stone, but I prefer Helen's voice to Julia's.
Al your latest posts have been beyond outstanding. Please put this one on the album. When are you expecting to finish it by the way?
Helen your voice is gorgeous, beautiful harmonising too. Al your playing is amazing; crisp, every note ringing, precise, amazing (where's my thesaurus?) sound. You playing has reached star levels and you sound more and more professional with each post.
You've made me want to learn this one too. Geesh... how many songs can a woman have in her learning queue?
I'm so glad you've posted to this thread. If you've got more, keep them coming.
I'm off to listen to it a few more times.
THANKS
Michele

Yep - Jon's a handsome man. You know he was in Sydney recently with Oprah. He told me if I ever see the light, I should look him up. Want his phone number? You and Bon Jovi, I would néver have suspected that, haha(actually, I love playing Bon Jovi-tunes)!
Hmmm... maybe he could rock my world.

Hahahahaha, you áre the funniest around!! (Hmmm...but I dó know what you mean..
)
Gonna check my Bon Jovi-love songs-closet! They're not thát easy playing by yourself, I mean he has got a whóle band around him and a great backingvocal (Richie), so this is another challenge!

BRAVO!!! Don't even begin to cover what I just watched and listen too.Cant even start to phantom a person coming this far this fast on playing the guitar and all the other stuff you do with your videos.Either you been sand bagging us all this time   ,Or you have the big S under your shirt.Damn Al, these videos are just flipping amazing!!!!
The first time I watch it.I thought something was off with the timing of the bass notes. So got my glasses on and seen,Or heard it was in the effects, on the video. So I was trying to watch the thumb and the count of the bass notes. And yes that was a tricky pattern of picking.Still not quit sure I could make it out.Looks like it starts out as straight pattern and then looks like a reverse pattern. Was I even close to what you are playing.Anyway great performance.Miss Helen fantastic as all ways.
Kevin
P.S. Al I said to update the picture of that beautiful baby not cover her up.
P.S.S. When I was stopping the video to try and get the count it says.

Bill- Thanks for your comments. H and I are really enjoying what's behind this new door we've opened.
Dermot- Thank you. I can't take credit for any of the song choices that H and I have played so far. She's more into the indie scene than I am and comes to me with the song suggestions of what we try.
Marc- Funny that you should call me a 'learning machine'. There's a certain pressure that one gets when playing with their significant other. Trust me-- you really don't want to mess it up.
Vanessa- Thanks. Your hunch was right and it's nice to join you in this thread. I'm sure you've got another few love songs up your sleeve that you can share with us..
Michele- I'm blushing. I'll be sure H sees your comment (and ALL the comments for that matter).
Kevin- Don't make me re-post my first upload to TG for you to see. It wasn't pretty. No sandbagger here. BUT- this is a good chance to say one thing about my posts as of late-- with regards to layering/multi-tracking..
You wouldn't believe how much adding a little reverb and/or a second guitar track makes to a song. And I mean VERY SIMPLE guitar track. Look at this upload for instance. Dead easy, sparce second guitar that I put in there- but it makes a HUGE difference to the overall recording.
Also, with regards to the pattern and bass notes- your eyes aren't deceiving you. I think the video is actually a little off from the audio. I record the two separately and then re-link them using AVS edit program. Guess I was off on this one. But the pattern is a BUGGER and unpredictable until you get your head around it. I'll post the original below- and there's a tutorial on it as well.
Oh- and you probably couldn't read the sign behind me-- it said 'HI TG!!'
Anyways, thanks for your comment and checking it out.

Wow Al and Helen, that was just perfect! Beautiful singing and great picking, so well put together. Great job on that picking pattern Al. I guess you've found a great way to spend those cold Canadian winter evenings. Really nice video ... except for the seating arrangement... but I'm guessing that has to do with how the recording gear is set up... right Al?Let me and the Missus slide in here for one... "Posters" from a Canadian called Peter Katz.
Haunting tune that stays with you-- and a tough fingerpicking pattern for me to grasp at first.

Hi Chris,
Yes, the seating arrangement is kind of a necessary evil at this time. There's quite a lot for me to run in order to achieve liftoff with these vids. I just need to sit there. Might be different if we build that music room in the basement. I also think some people might want to see the guitar fingerings, so I excuse it that way as well.
