As has become a habit lately, there is quite a bit of music involved
in today's News. It started with a little improv on a Christmas tune,
maybe a bit melancholy but one of my favorites, and ended with a piece
by Francisco Tarrega, Adelita.
In between there was the update on this week's contents, including
Reviews of If I Were A Carpenter and Mr. Soul, Fly On The Wall lessons
covering the solo part of Sandman and the beginning picking in Dust In
The Wind, and the Target release on Lou Reed's Walk On The Wild Side.
This was followed with a comment on the Forum question about
fingerpicking directions, a recommendation on the movie Cadillac
Records, and an update on my progress with a couple of the classical
pieces I have been working on. I played a bit of the Villa-Lobos Etude
#1 and Bach's Prelude In D Minor. There may have been some other
things included as the rambling progressed and I hope you enjoy the
journey...

On the Beat - Episode 144 - Weekly Guitar video news wrap up December 7th, 2012
That was some stunning playing, the technical ability required for those pieces is frightening.
That's the first time I've seen Neil look like he's struggling, but still, if I lived for a thousand years I couldn't come close to playing like that.
Classical guitar is starting to pique my interest, amazing sounds...

Neil, you're playing is really inspiring for me. I loved the finger-picking tunes that I don't know, MUST learn; thank you.
I took from that the few small problems that you had, and you continued on, without the embarrassment a lot of us would experience. It just lets me know that we're not alone, no matter how good we get, we still have things to learn, and I really appreciate you showing us your own attempts and progress.
NOW, you alluded to continuing with the practice until the hand just burned out, or something to that affect - you were saying that your right hand was getting tired, or something, but you kept on going. That's an interesting concept, as I try not to go that far. I wonder if you could talk a bit more on that next Friday.
BTW, thanks for the reply on the finger-picking 101 followup.
