The first pinch is a quarternote = two 8th notes (1 and).

All the other notes are 8th notes (2 and 3 and 4 and). So the first pinch (quaternote=two 8th notes) takes twice as long as all the other notes.

Check out if you understand what I mean when you look at the tab.

Oh ábsolutely!! Standard notation would make it clear immediately!

Still, the tab does indicate something about it, the vertical line below the pinch means a quarternote, the vertical lines, which are connected with a uh.....uh......horizontal line, mean that those are all 8th notes (if they were connected with double horizontal lines it would be 16th notes.)
