Tom:

I am bringing my light bending suit with me, so you will just see a backwards looking guitar floating in thin air.... :woohoo: :silly: :woohoo: :silly:

Although I am thoroughly looking forward to the lessons and the informal jams, I am still super hesitant to commit to an Open Mic night. Hell, I can't even garner the nerve to video myself most of the time. I am just going to go with the flow and see what happens. You just never know where it all will lead.

I am looking forward to the whole experience as well. I just thought what can I do that I have never done before? When I do the open mic night I will feel that I have moved on and achieved something. I have a nice song that I can sing and I figure if I play it to death just now, it will be second nature to me on the night.

Signing up for the IGC has actually spurred on my playing no end and I usually play every day anyway. I am more focussed. I have also written a song as well which probably needs another verse, but I am very pleased with it so far. So, as I suspected when I signed up for the IGC, looking forward to this is having a very positive effect on my practice and playing. It's all good. :)

I am pretty sure that if you asked me a year ago, there is no way I would have been up for an Open mic night then. The big advantage here is that it will be a friendly crowd.
If I prepare well I won't make too big an ass of myself and if I do, well I can only blame one person. :) I am going there to enjoy myself whatever happens. :)

Sweet attitude! B)

I am so excited as the time draws near. I have been so busy at work, and been nursing my pinched nerve (good news on that front though), that my practice sessions have been more or less strumming through 8-10 songs each night. Nothing very disciplined, but more trying to keep limber. I am sure I will get overwhelmed with the amount of info that is coming our way, but I am very eager to soak it up. For me, the idea of finally playing with others and maybe, just maybe taking part in the Open Mic, is certainly a step in a direction I have yet to try. You nailed it by saying you were just going to have a good time no matter what happens. There are going to be some great folks there, some we have known for a while now, and some we have just met (cyber speaking) recently. Tough to ask for more... :) :)

Glad to hear you are on the mend. You are doing what you can and that is as good as it gets for now, considering your injury.

There are no expectations on any of us and we will be there at whatever level we are at. Some will be better than others, as long as you can take something back with you even just a memory, then that will be good enough. This is a fun activity and I really expect us all to have a blast! :)

Not long to go now. :woohoo: :)

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeh, we got the first volunteer!!!!! :woohoo: Thanks Tom, good on ya, looking forward!! :cheer: :) :cheer: :)

Thanks so much sweet Kev, I have a feeling that we'll have a blast indeed! (and yep, bringing my cam! ;) )

Good idea Willem, if someone doesn't want to perform by himself, then a group thing might work instead. :)

Jason, I hear you mate....I can't stress it often enough, THIS is THE chance to just go for it. I'm sure you actually want to. I've seen and done many open mic-things and heard lots of other attendees saying the same thing. The ones who did go for it, we're soooooooooo happy afterwards and the ones who didn't regretted it BIG TIME, so I'm not letting you off the hook that easily! :P And you know, we could always do Doolin' Dalton' together! ;)

As for videos, well....the open mic is just us, right? I can't imagine that we wouldnt be allowed to record clips of ourselves, but I dont know for sure of course. However, indeed, I'm bringing my camera, will definitely record as much as I can and as much is allowed, etc. It'll be much fun to share it later on TG! :cheer:

Anyway, I need more volunteers!!! :P B) Anyone???????!

I'm really hoping people will be OK with being filmed, at least some folks. I'm looking forward to seeing you all do your stuff.

:)
