OK, Sound City is under my belt, and it too, is a documentary told mostly by one person. Like The Wrecking Crew and Muscle Shoals, a main character of the story is a studio, but in Sound City, a specific group of musicians is not the secondary character, it is more so a piece of equipment. It's a good story, and I recommend it. To Chris' point, Sound City Studio is near Laurel Canyon.............
One pattern that continues in Sound City is the staggering number of mega-hits that come out of a studio session where no sheet music went in. I am surprised and intimidated by how much great music is made on the fly. I guess there is just no substitute for talent when it comes to turning jams into mega-hits in real time.
I'm going to go take some more Acoustic Genius now........
