Have fun Stuart. I went to school nearby in St. Ives so I know Cambridge from days past. No festival in those days... not that I would have noticed it was all soccer then. Other Stuart lives there I believe... will you team up?
Hehe.....Marc, you probably shouldn't read these if you're going to be driving!.
Well, day 1 draws to a close. The good news is - the weather has been great. People are happy and smiley. The bad news is - the weather has been great. Body smells are at least 2 days ahead of schedule!! Not me, of course. I'm as fresh as a mountain spring.
This afternoon I was sitting outside my tent noodling away on my guitar when a boy walked past playing a banjo. Yeah - that kind of thing happens a lot here. For some weird reason the Duellin' Banjos tune leapt into my head and I played a couple of bars to him. He just smiled and walked on. THANK GOD! What was I thinking? I cant play Duellin' Banjos!! That was my sum knowledge of the whole tune. If he'd played anything back I'd have had to get up out of my chair and start running. Not very dignified but what else could I have done?
This evening I watched Hobo Jones and the Junkyard Dogs - a skiffle band - and Paul Mckenna - a more trditional scottish folk band with guitars and a fiddle and whistle. A good start to the festival.
Now, it's probably time for a night cap.
Good night!

Thanks for the update Stuart. Awesome that you're getting beautiful weather for the camp - the one thing you can't control sounds to be working out nicely.
The Dueling Banjos reminds me of a time (haunts may be a better term) years ago when I sat in for a song with a friend's band and afterward the other guitar player mentioned doing another song (by name). I knew the intro (and that was it) and made the mistake of starting it (not meaning to play it - just involutarily started the intro). Well the band kicked in and suddenly I wanted to run way too because I had no idea how to play the whole song. What an embaressment that was - with a live audience.
