Sounds great so far Al!
Your Taylor sounds pretty good... just wondering how you broke a string? Admit it, it was your G-string again! ;-)
I have only ever broken the G-octave string and that's not hard to do on a 12 string as its so thin but can't imagine breaking another string... just how hard are you pounding away there?

Hi Al,

I really like that song and you did a real nice job. The mini sounds really good. As Mark said I will wait for your post singing as well.

Thanks for the look at the new axe

Bob

Willem- Thanks.. good luck in your search.

Mark- I'm not surprised you haven't seen one in stores. I hear there's a HUGE backorder/demand. I totally lucked out getting mine so quickly.
Also, thanks for the strumming tip. I should actually go back to view Neil's lesson again, as I just did this from what I remembered.

Chris- Always in the gutter..
I broke the high E string trying to go DOWN to double drop D tuning. Strange, as I was releasing the tension. Dennis tells me it's not common on Elixers- but it gave me an excuse to change ALL the strings, as the sound was a bit bright for my ears. The Martin strings mellowed the sound somewhat, so it's all good.

**And here's a first for me-- changing my own strings! Never done it before- always got the shop to do it. I can see how it will be fun to try different brands/gauges and experiment as well.

Bob- Thanks. Will see about doing a full(er) version of this song at some point.

Great sound with the guitar Al, I also like this song because you can really pound the guitar.

You're right, Mark. It is fun to pound away with it! And it's not so expensive that you're too worried when you do..

I might give the Martin strings a try out. They sound pretty nice as do those Taylor's, I have a Big Baby to compliment my GA.

You played that so easily Al. Plenty of changes and barres up and down the neck and apart from the one hesitation (who cares really?!) you nailed it really clean and smooth.

Great job with "Cinnamon Girl', Al. I hope you re-visit this one again, it needs the full 'AL' treatment. This video was a lot of fun to watch, I really enjoyed it.

And to the question, "Can Taylors and Martins play in the same sandbox?" The answer is NO. I keep my in seperate rooms. Jealous bastards!

Tony- Thanks. One thing I noticed was I avoided playing the low E string when playing a D-chord.. which is stupid of me- as it's DROP D tuning! The guitar would have even more bass if I played the song properly.

There's probably Taylor owners out there who wouldn't think of stringing their guitars with Martin strings. But Dennis says it's actually a pretty popular practice on the Taylor forums he subscribes to. Worked for me! I didn't want to make the Taylor sound like a Martin.. just roll off the highs a bit. I've also read a bone bridge & pegs helps (ships with plastic ones)-- will try that next string change.

Bill- 'The full 'AL' treatment? I'll leave that one alone.

So you keep your Martin & Taylor separate, do you? Which one is the jealous one?
Hmmmmm??
