How do you tell the date of a guitar? I have an acoustic, and an electric and would like to know the dates.
Thanks in advance, Rick

Depends on the brand of the guitar. Often the year is encoded in the serial number but every manufacturer does it differently.

You could try their website, some companies have that information on their sites some don't. You could get the companies customer support number and give them a call. You could also try a local music store or luthier.

Your fender guitar was made at the
Ensenada Plant (Fender), Mexico
in the Year(s): 2003 - 2004
Is that the full number for the Yamaha any letters before. Yamaha apparently recycled numbers every ten years so that causes confusion.

Go here, http://www.giles.com/yamaha1/pdf/brochu ... G_sogo.pdf its a PDF and on page 3 or 4 'zoom in' it gives a history of the FG model
