I am ashamed that it has taken over 15 years for me to get to this lesson on Drive My Car. No excuse for that except that I was sure I had done it years ago. The song features George essentially doubling Paul's bass line with a pretty common riff, but also includes a very confusing intro lick, which is completely demystified (I hope).

Drive My Car kicks off Rubber Soul, the 1965 Beatles' album that really changed the music scene of the day. It opens with a somewhat confusing intro (which is explained in great detail in this lesson), then heads into a fairly basic progression with a bass riff borrowed from Motown. But like almost all Beatles' tunes, there are some incredibly innovative twists.

The lesson shows a basic way of strumming through the progression but also breaks down exactly what George plays, echoing Paul's bass line.
