Hey Gang,
Here is one out of left field - Sylvia's Mother, from the mind and pen of Shel Silverstiein.
Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show is an American rock band who had commercial success in the 1970's with several hit singles.
One of those is Sylvia's Mother, an autobiographical by songwriter Shel Silverstein.
The lesson is based on live versions with singer Dennis Locorriere playing the guitar by himself.
The song has only three chords (I-IV-V), in the key of A, even though it's encouraged to play it in a key that suits the range of ones voice. This could be for example the keys of G, E, D and C.
We break down the progression, the chords (key of A and G), and the right hand, which Dennis approaches with a bit of focused strumming, aiming at mostly the top string as well as the bass.
