Do you use your nails or just your fingertips? I wonder if it's possible to be a decent finger picker by just using your tips. It's hard to get clear, pronounced sound without amplification.

You don't need much nail at all to get a clear ring from the string. but if your'e lucky to have fingers, then you need some good callouses on your finger tips and that should do it for you..

I personally don't like the idea of thumb picks I just use my fingers and nails, helps with the feel IMHO. Or at times I use a flatpick combo with fingers and I also use the invisible pick concept Neil talks about.

Carefull now- the Invisible Pick is a TG exclusive, even trademarked and proprietary, I think. Be sure not mention them to anyone else. The secret society does not take kindly to these types of security breaches. I also don't think most TG members want to shell out the big bucks for an authentic IP. I can't say much more right now, Peter Lorre is just over my shoulder...

My IP was handed down to me by my great great grand daddy,
still in it's original condition.
I once got it professionally valued, for insurance purposes of course
The man said that he had never seen anything like it so was unsure of the value,
but to put a minimum of £1000.
But i would never sell such an Air loom

Hey, back to the topic you thread jackers!! I found a thumb pick that I really like called a "Zookie". Why is it so great you may ask? Because you can buy them with different angles on the pick part depending of your angle of attack between your thumb and string.

I bought a couple different angles and I really like them. Not expensive either. Worth checking out!
