I've 'started' to play a few times now- with a HUGE break in between.
In my early teens my brother showed me an easy (improper) way to play 'Never Going Back Again' by Fleetwood Mac. Also 'Cat's Cradle' by Harry Chapin. Don't know why but I've always found finger picking easier than stumming for some reason.
Fast forward to about a year ago when I picked up the guitar again.. first tune was
'Needle and the Damage Done'

"Bandalero" by Neal Schon
"Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton
"Just remember I Love You" by Firefall
It is funny to look back on those now. They seem so easy (with the exception of Bandalero). When I started they seemed near impossible. But, that is the way it is supposed to be, right. Loving this stuff.....

Sheesh! This is going back a long time. If I had to guess I would say something like the main riff from Free's "All Right Now". Or maybe it was a 12-bar blues shuffle. There were quite a few Stones songs I was trying to learn as well, so maybe one of those? I do know that one of the first songs Neil taught me was "House of the Rising Sun".

Don't want to hoist the Jolly Roger, just make a little aside comment: Songs that I've never wanted to play would be Blowing in the Wind, Stairway to Heaven and Lady in Black...
