learning classical gas
Hi Jonathon, Welcome to TG, I'm sure BigBear will be along shortly with his official welcome and invite you to introduce yourself to the site at "PLease Introduce yourself thread' So be ready for that.. As for your question for Neil, It might help if you could hint at where you are at at present with your playing. Once known maybe even some of the long in the tooth members (counts for most of us one way ort another) might be able to give constructive advice. Classical Gas is way up there in difficulty terms and your fingerpicking needs to be quite fluent and also your actual position of left / right hands can also make a difference. YOur knowledge of the notes on the fretboard also needs to be good with so many changes involved and the tempo of the tune. Thats a bit general but without specifics not sure what else can be added right now. If your up to it a few of the intermediate level fingerpicking songs in the programme might be a good start. Tell us a bit more so either Neil or one of us can add more.
Good on ya mate for posting!!

Jonathan- Welcome to the program. We're glad to have you with us!
Chas is correct (as he usually is) Classical Gas is not for the faint of heart or the place to start. Way too tough for all but experienced guitarists. But that wasn't your question, was it?
Not knowing your ability level, I'd start with all the fingerpicking songs in the TARGET program like Is there Naybody Out There, Hallelujah, Brain Damage, Dust in the Wind etc. You really need to have your fingerpicking down solid before tackling Classical Gas. Remember it was played on a nylon stringed classical guitar not the steeel stringed guitars most of us play. It is much easier on a classical!
Almost every song in the TARGET program would ultimately help tackling Classical Gas. It's a really fun somg but it's earned it's 9/10 rating!
Good luck! Cheers! :cheer:
