What song? Vocals second would probably be a good idea unless you tell me what you are singing along to, and what it is tuned to.

For a vocal track you need to make sure the original track isn't heard in the background. Singing into a mic with headphones on would be best.

Yeah I agree the rhythm part we will do first, then we can get the add ons, vocals, maybe if it's a Neil Young song a bit of harmonica etc.

OK this will be a project over Christmas I think. Still very happy for more comments, suggestions etc.

A good suggestion Willem. I was thinking that you might be able to contribute some harmonica for the right song?

That is a great video.

For ours, how about if we go with Harvest Moon?

Anyone play a different instrument, drums, keys, bass, harmonica, washboard, broom?

I'll sing one verse and add harmonies in as appropriate.

I'll play one verse too.

Who else?

Wow. What a great idea. I agree that this is both exciting and do-able given both the technical and musical talent we have on this site. My initial thought would be that the steps to realize this goal would be something like this. Tovo, correct, addend, or disregard as you see fit.

1) choose a song
2) Someone records the background rhythm in a common format (MP3 or wav). This recording is emailed to everyone who would like to contribute.
3) While listening to the background rhythm (with headphones), each participant records a video of him or herself playing his or her version on guitar, harmonica, banjo, mandolin, or ukelele
4) Mark, Neil, or any other other advanced players could add solos of some kind?
5) These contributions are compiled into one recording/video.
6) Vocals are added at this point by Chris, Anton, Goldleaf, or any other singers.
7) Final video completed.

I have no idea if the list above is based in any kind reality, but I must say it is a wonderful idea. I had forgotten about that video to which Bill linked, but it is truly a gem. Let me know how I can help. I'd love to be invovled.
