Very true, and also make sure the tuner is set to A = 440 Hz (this is usually the default setting)

I wish I could join in on the project, but I have no way of recording(audio or video). So, I will just eagerly await the results.

Ric, do you have a built in microphone on your computer? Or an input socket for microphone. If so you just need to download Audacity (free) and away you go within minutes.

now that sounds like a great idea - those virtual songs on utube are outstanding

So, is that 85bpm, with 2 beats per measure? Otherwise it seems awfully slow.

Also, I looked at capo'ing it on the 5th fret, but that requires playing a Bm and Bm7 which, while useful and edifying, is not something I want to commit myself to for this project. Better let a more experienced player do that! I'll still play rhythm at the standard fret.

Suzi, just play along with the album track - that'll be pretty close for timing

You could try capo-ing at 7 and play Am G for the intro, Am F G C for the verse. Your nice new Taylor should cope with it OK, mine goes out of tune that high up the neck.....

Reiver-

Good idea. Am,F,G & C I can handle! Does the Em7 have to become an Am7, though? Also, should I skip the little hammer-on riff that occurs in the Em and just let the person who's playing that in standard "solo" on that part?

I'll see how it sounds on my guitar. I'll also play along with the album track.

Ok, that works for me! Capo'ing at the 7th that is. "The Moustaches" does NOT work for me!

Bill's advice about recording a reference track for everyone to use is a sound idea. I had better get to learning this song.

Having said that, although I am very happy to do so within the time frame we have agreed I'm absolutely not precious about 'leading' this. If someone else wants to put their hand up that will be fine. It does seem to me though that most people will appreciate taking it steady as it is obviously a busy period over the Christmas holidays.

Thanks for the input Bill and again thanks for the TAB Reiver. I guess the tempo will be whatever the reference rhythm player chooses!

A reference track would be very helpful. I tried playing along to a metronome today and found that tough. Then played along to the NY recording (per Reiver's recommendation) and that was MUCH easier. Or can our reference track just be the original recording?
