Hello,
I am going to go out and purchase a metronome today, does anybody have a suggestions on what brand I should buy, features to look for or want, the pros and cons? Price range? B)
Metronome, any suggestions?
I have a little Seiko DM70 metronome. If I am not mistaken, Neil uses the same model. I think it cost about $25. I bought it online. There are some expensive ones that have all kinds of bells and whistles on them, but stay with a cheap one.

Gary, I had a metronome years ago and I lost it. When I decided to buy another one, I remembered just how hard it is to learn to play with one, so the low price of the Seiko really appealed to me......just in case it accidentally got bounced off the wall a few times.

I have a fancy one, a BOSS DB-90 (I got it for my son to practice drumming rhythms). I wouldn't recommend it for guitar practice--it's too expensive.
For guitar, I use only the basic features. The one feature that I like that may not be a basic metronome is the first beat indication. This indication is both visual and aural, so a 4/4 beat would be "ping-tick-tick-tick-ping-tick-tick-tick".

As they say in their ads "There's an app for that", if you have an iPhone or an iPod touch there are many guitar apps that include metronomes and many other things such as a multi mode tuner, chord chart, fretboard etc. I use one called "Guitar Toolkit". They range in price from free to about $15.00.
jealous...iphone...the app phone. I have a verizon phone. I got a tuner, a metronome on it and that is about it. The Metronome works but first note notification is not there. So it bugs me too much to use. The tuner is also not has easy to use as my simple korg. So yea I second the notion...first note notification is required in my book. I have been meaning to get a cheap one...maybe a korg. But I haven't.

Just to make sure I don't buy the wrong one, is the ping-tick-tick-tick in Hebrew or English? This indication is both visual and aural, so a 4/4 beat would be "ping-tick-tick-tick-ping-tick-tick-tick".
