Bravo, Bravo, Bravo Suzi! That was just fun to watch. You did such a good job, its hard to believe that you have only been practicing it for two weeks. I love your version. Thank you so much for posting your video and the Elizabeth Cotten video too.

Yippee, Suzi! I'm very proud of you. That's a mother of a hard song to play and you did a great job. Also, it looks like it would be really fun to play. Congrats for learning it and for doing such a commendable job in such a short time.

I see what you mean about that F. That's really Satan disguised as a guitar chord. There's a reason they call it an F.

Yeah Suzi, you really are steaming on with your progress, it pays off NOT being on the forums, eh! Love that guitar and the sounds you make with her!

Now Bill has posted the clapping hands... I can post Cotton Jenny (certainly did not want distract attention from your lovely version of Freight Train which requires much more playing)! ;-)

Bill- Now that I got the clapping hands, I can consider this a success :) It's hard for me to feel like this was a "great job" because every mistake grates on me, but I'm getting there. Maybe in another week I'll have it down.

Dennis- Thanks! This song is such a fun song to play, you're right! It's one I'll happily keep working on, probably forever. It's also a song that could easily be embellished, so I don't think it could ever get boring.

Chris- Silly you, I'm waiting for you to post your video!!! I WANT to see Cotten Jenny!

Suzi:

I had never heard that song before. It is a very nice melody. She's a lefty too, so she's got my vote! Maybe if I would have just learned to play upside down, I would have had better luck.......lol.

I am very impressed by your work on this piece. I am also liking the results from the new camera.......(any feedback on that front?).

Keep up the great work, and I look forward to your next vid. You should be very proud!

MJ

Oh, I should have mentioned my new camera! Yes, this was filmed with my new Kodak Zi8, which is a "Flip-style" camera. I think both the audio and video are better than on my old camera, but what I like best is that the battery lasts through many, many takes (unlike my old one) and it's got a lot more memory, so I can do a bunch of takes without worrying about maxing out the camera. It's also incredibly easy to use. You need some sort of tripod or something to mount it on, but being a cheapskate, I took a piece of foam rubber that I had at home, cut an appropriate-sized slit in it, and stuck the camera in that. Worked like a dream and saved me $25!

Thanks, MJ, for your kind words. This was a challenging, but fun, song to learn.

Holly Cow MJ! There's a song you DON'T know!! And it's Freight Train: How bizarre is that! :-) That is so funny.

I'm using the same camera but uploading with a lower resolution (because it tells me too!) but next time I'll upload the full Monty as Suzi's quality is much better. Great camera!
