Chris,

I'm getting my electric guitar from my folks on tuesday, so will start working on this then.

Just curious, is there a spot for 12 string on this song?

Also, I know we're tuning a step down, has a speed for the song been agreed?

Do we have a video of elton doing the song, his reference track for us? could be handy for everyone learning their parts

Joe

This is going to be a challenge! DLTSGDOM is a much more nuanced composition than HOG. It is very much a vocal showcase--we will have to keep the instumental backing subtle so that it doesn't overshadow the vocals, but on the other hand, not let it get boring.

I agree Suzi, snow outside...norwegian wood on the wall... bong on the table... looks like heaven to me.

I told Fred already I don't know what a bong is... and he's referring to the hi-tech de-corking device behind me... behind that is some strange wooden thing, no idea what it is.
Chris: Maybe you could record a nice little clip of its "Uncorking" abilities.....lol

Cheers Chris! Having some at you expense my friend...... :silly:

Sounds good so far, Chris has a good voice reminds me of my Moody Blues CDs. At least it is sung right, I have this comedy spot stuck in my head guys, Don't let your son go down on me... lol

Fanfare for Wade! I had the stop watch ticking to see who would be first to mention THAT! I don't know the spot but the joke on this title was a scream first time around. But I wasn't going to mention it!! :-)

Joe I'll be posting those reference videos. Speed not yet important until we lay down the first reference track. It will be slower than I played it. I played my track with a 12 string, sure the should be one in there.

MJ I'll do an uncorking demo for you all next time!!

David's right, this is a little more complex and subtle... after all it's a piano song and we have to interpret it.

This is the one I love: George Michael with Elton:

Getting there already Chris, what do you think about one guitar struming tuned down half step, 2nd struming capoed and a third appregiating the chords to fill the gaps then of course a bass rythm and some leads from a electric guitar in the the higher key ? Just my thoughts so far, sounds like a lot to put together !!!!

mark
Mark,

That could work well and would suit my short scale electric guitar quite well.

Moody Blues!!! That's it. I'm out!

Seriously now Chris, you've got a great band together for this now, I'm going to sit it out and cheer from the sidelines. I've collaborated so much I feel like I'm an Italian General.

Tony, sit back have some Cannelloni and Chianti and enjoy! You can be our adviser any time you see us going astray, having been there and done it already, you know some.

I completely agree David. I was thinking maybe STH, or LMR, or GR, OR even F, if they dare, might be a better musical selection.
