The last I checked, the estimated time of arrival in Hawaii is 4:19pm EST for the Big Island and 4:25pm EST for Oahu. Keep your fingers crossed for them. I will say that Hawaii has a warning system and evacuation plans that are a model for the rest of the world.

TSUNAMI STRIKE!
I was just talking with a very good friend of mine in Hawaii Matt, and one of the problems they are fearing is that there have been several 'false alarms' in the last 10 years and not everyone is taking this one as serious as they should. I went through one of those, when the wave arrived it was 11 inches high.
I just hope everyone follows the exacuation orders this time.

Just hit Tahiti and the reef system absorbed most of it. Very little damage if any there.
Hilo is being sent to higher ground. We are ready for it. Unless Becka gets stubborn, she should be fine. We plan for this and have drills and practice it all the time.
We are worried about people thinking it's a false alarm, but the entire state has mobilized. We should be fine. Minimal damage is expected.

God's speed my friend. You and everyone else will be in our prayers!
For any of you science geeks, this Chilean earthquake is 1000 times more powerful (energy released) than the quake that destroyed Haiti! I can't even get my mind around the destructive power of an 8.8.magnitude earthquake!

Tsunami warnings in place for NZ, the first wave has hit a small Island of NZ coast, The Chathams, was only 20cm, but larger waves predicted between 1 and 3 metres to hit anywhere along our East Coast, we get warnings like this pretty early , but people are quite blasé as most tsunamis that hit NZ are pretty small by the time they get here. People are being evacuated though from the lower lying areas. But some folk are dumb and going out in boats to fish and watch!! Other go on life as normal walking the beaches and going fishing!. Where I am is not coastal but several large rives surrounding us which generally burst banks and cause flooding, , 3 years ago my town wwas isolated for 3 days this way. My house is raised high enough, I hope to be safe.
Hope those in Hawaii and the Islands are coping, thoughts are with Andy and family.
