Hi,

Hey welcome to the forum, why don't you go to the introduce yourself thread and tell us about yourself?

Have a look at this lesson where Neil gives some tips on singing and playing. Very useful stuff. There's heaps of information from Neil on a huge range of topics (all guitar related he hasn't started giving relationship advice or anything), so a bit of a cruise around the lessons is well worth it.

Hope this helps you out a bit:

Thanks Tovo for posting that, that was a big help to me too. I hadn't looked at this lesson yet, didn't know that little signing tidbit was in there.

Ahh....This was great. I hadn't gotten to this lesson yet and I wish I had about two weeks ago. I will say that these tips are great and I'm happy that I was at least following some of them. The part about knowing a song back to front before singing is key. Even though I thought I knew You've got to Hide Your Love away down pat, as soon as I started to sing I had to reevaluate that a bit as I was making too many mistakes. This has come up in a bunch of songs that I thought I knew without thinking. Now a bit more practice and I'm slowley getting it. I've been playing some songs while my wife comes in and she wants to talk about this or that. Once I told here I wasn't being rude but rather trying to make sure I get these songs down she was fine.

The other tip that Neil had that works really well was the one about listening to the song until you know the words by heart as well. I travel a lot so I made a play list for my car on the songs that I want to try and sing. This has worked out real well in memorizing the lyrics and how to incorporate them into the song correctly. Now I just have to try and tell my voice to figure itself out. I'm getting there.

You're welcome Dog. You know I'm not taking a shot at Rapsidy who is a new member but it's important I think that people dig about a bit for info. If I were Neil and I had put so much of my time into creating a huge catalogue of material I'd kinda hope that people checked it out now and again.

YES I AM gunning for a job with TG......I might get to meet Tommy E!

I don't disagee entirely Tony but maybe the problem is in the fact that it is a huge catalogue (catalog for Bear) that its easier for some to ask, as two longer standing members have just testified to by not realising this info was out there, and
'Get in behind' i'm first inline for the TG job lol

Chas that's no worries. Like I said I'm not taking a shot at Brad and it is easy to ask. I'm just really making the point that there is a lot of material and it's amazing how much info is there for the absorbing!

NO worries here either but maybe we are raising a point that needs addressing somehow. Simply 'You don't know what you don't know' Maybe the FAQs need updating or the index on the Master menu needs to be clearer, these queries keep cropping up , mostly from newbies but also from guys been around awhile.
