The Sounds of Silence

Hello everyone,
Well, I started working on Romanza this week. I think that's a big step for me but I'm trying. That barre chord on the 7th fret (Section I-Em) is killing me by now. My fingers don't want to collaborate but I'm waiting for good news from them one of these days...
I've followed Neil tip/suggestion on "Is There Anybody Out There", and it's better now.
Also practicing the new acoustic genius series (Practice Partner), also major and minor scales, and dreaming with all the new and old songs waiting for me here in TG.

Also hunting for a new guitar. The Guitar Center do not ship orders to Portugal and in Europe I must spent extra money for the same Taylor model .
Meanwhile, I'm visiting local stores and searching sites for a good price for that Taylor guitar.
As soon as I buy it, I will start working on Stairway to Heaven. I love this classic rock song... Or maybe a Clapton one, or a Neil Young, oh well :silly:

I think it has a lot to do with the weather.

England has finally come out of winter and the days are getting warmer.

I recently bought a Nylon string guitar so I've been playing a bit of classical. Romanza, Bouree and Lagrima among others.

I've also been looking at the Clapton songs from the unplugged album.

So I'm not alone in thinking it's been quiet around here. Just when I was thinking that it was because Suzi and Izzy had been away - and the natural conclusion that they are the raucous ones.

My excuses are:
-our baby girl (24 years old) has been staying with us for a while so we've ben spending time with her
- socialising over the Easter long-weekend (here in Sydney anyway)
- work has been INSANELY STRESSFUL - and I'm working longer hours and I'm tired when I get home and
- I'm still finishing off some moving-in jobs.

I haven't won the lottery yet either so there are all of those hours during the week when I need to work for the bank (pay the mortgage). I'd so rather be at home playing.

But, I still log on every day - generally more than once.

I've been playing mostly "Here Comes the Sun", "Is There Anybody Out There" and "Time in a Bottle" and dabbling in some others. None of them are near posting quality yet, but I'm learning lots. I'm eyeing lots of others too and dropping in on them, but I'm trying to stay disciplined and finish things I've started. "Tears in Heaven' is beckoning though...

We're just moving into Autumn (Fall). Those of you at the 'top' of the world, enjoy your Spring. Sounds like y'all need some warmth after the crazy cold weather some of you've been having.

Mark is right, England is seeing the sun again, for the first time in a looooooong time.

Its my first chance to have a go at converting the pile of weeds/mud/stones/general debris into something that resembles a garden. Theres a lot of digging and heavy lifting to be done, but iyts good to be out in the sunshine after all the bad weather we've had.

On top of that we're still doing things to the house, to get it the way we want it, and that takes time.

Guitar wise, I'm still practising, and trying hard with the theory, but it's kinda on the back burner at the moment, while I'm working on other projects.

I wouldnt be surprised if some of us on here are getting overawed at the sherr amount of content/lessons etc etc, deciding what song you wnat to learn next can be a daunting task when you realise how many somngs are on here, i'm glad of the choice, but how do you decide when you see 5/10/15 that you want to cover,lol

ho yeah spring is here and i have a big farmer garden,, and grow my own vegetable,,potato,,tomato,,,union etc..... i love to be outside and watch how the crowd is running all that from a nice sunny terrace,,,

I think it's mostly the Spring season. Remember at this time last year, TG was just launching the site (as I recall it was March 23), so we were just beginning to feel our way around, so this is really the first winter-into-spring cycle we've seen.

Which reminds me, where the heck was TG's birthday party? Happy Birthday TG!

Well apart from the Elton John project and sporadic guitar playing on the balcony in the spring sunshine I've got my head down in work. At the moment I'm illustrating and re-writing our national squash coaching manual for coaches. This is work I love as I get paid to be creative in a visual media working in my field of expertise and chewing through all the details and arguing the toss with people who know their stuff. Mostly I'm bent over a hot laptop all day long at home so sporadic breaks with my guitar on the balcony are just what I need... mostly playing songs I already know but not too much new stuff.

I have been really busy at work! Plus, I have had a couple of home repairs to work on (thanks to a 115 pound 18 month old great dane puppy). Then, it was spring break this week for the kids, so we went up to northern CA to visit family. I have been lucky to get about two hours of practice in over the last three weeks. It is driving me crazy. I have been working diligently on "Rivendell", and it is coming along decently. Still not very smooth. Then add in the watching of the additions to the acoustic genius series (these are outstanding if you have not had the chance to check them out). Oh, and yes, spring is here, and the weather has been very nice here in Ventura. Usually about 70 and sunny......

It is also time for me to get ready for my annual trek into the back country. I have been getting my gear together and replenishing any necessary supplies. I will most likely be taking off during the week of June 14th, mostly depends on the snow levels, and when access opens up.

Can't forget to mention the time spent researching the purchase of a new guitar. There are just entirely too many to choose from. Rosewood back and sides, with a spruce top is the make up, but the brand and model are the variables in this equation. I have browsed my calculus books, but they are no help with this decision.... :woohoo:

In short, life is nuts right now!
