after a lot of trial and error and "getting used to it" i've finally settled on what seems to be the right size and shape for my right hand fingers.
sorry no pictures for now. however, i was basically going for what i think i can make out on neil in his videos!
btw, i think all that try something new - it will feel "weird" at first but you gotta just commit to trying if you're not happy with what you are doing now.
i'm sure there are some ways i could tweak my nails (as well as my technique!) and will continue to read/listen to all of your input as well as anything else i can find on the topic! thanks to everyone for the great information here.
btw, i haven't tried it yet but was thinking of the clear polish on my nails. when wifey gets home i'm gonna ask her if she got any - i know she'll give me a hard time, but hey that's what she's good at - she'll find something if it ain't that!
