Hey Willem,
Great video. Baby rocking out in the background. Very cool.
Vanessa,
I wore the grooves out on my 4-Way Street album. Now I have Live at Massey Hall on CD, and that has this tune on it. You did on it a superb job on it here.
Al of the Acoustics,
Thanks for starting this thread. Not a bad job on Old Man, too.
Good work, everyone.

Haha, oh I know what you mean, if you'd listen to mine, I think it will sound the same....! Actually, must be one of my first 'cd's that I've purchased, a lot of money when those came out, but sounds much better than my LP of course!
Am glad that you've enjoyed it!

Hi All,
I've been away from the forum and the guitar for a while and thought I'd ease my way back in with a few campire songs.
Here's my version of Powderfinger. This is without a doubt my favourite Neil Young song. Thanks to MarkM for posting his take on this song a few months back and inspiring me to listen to Neil's acoustic recording.
I'm playing with some new toys here. The audio was recorded using a pair of Rode NT2000 condensor microphones set up for mid-side stereo recording.

PLEASE NOTE: If video was recently uploaded it will not work yet. YouTube will need a little more time to get the video ready. Please check back again soon.

Thank you very very much Beaker, very happy you liked it!
And I wísh it was a Taylor, as Taylor's supposed to be good right??
I don't even think I've ever played one.....actually I want to buy another steelstring, but do not know wich one, any suggestions and why??
(My guitar is a Tanglewood TW170AS-CE, affordable, but great and I'm also véry happy with it!

Vanessa, that was a great version of On the Way Home! really well played! And sung too, of course. Is that a Taylor guitar that you are playing? If I am right, which model is that. It sounds very good. Beaker.
Hi Stuart!
I think it's really gréat that you've uploaded something again and of course to join the NY-busking-thread, it's nice that we can all inspire each other in practicing, uploading etc. And you just did a very good job on this one!
One thing, the balance between the guitar and your voice, personally I'd like to hear your voice more, but then again, you tend to sing quite 'modest'(?), is that shyness, or are you a more calm or introvert person? Ones character reflects often in a song....just wondering..
It was really nice to actually séé you and for that matter, why not put the camera even closer or am I asking for way too much now
?! (Bono Vox: 'Am I bugging you? Don't mean to bug you.'), like I said, it's just nice to see you!
Am looking to hear/watch more from you!
Cheers

Thanks, Beaker. I appreciate your comments. NY rarely plays that turnaround in his acoustic concerts, but it's such a big part of how I hear the song that I couldn't leave it out. I'd like to play an instrumental verse as well, but haven't yet figured out how to make this sound good. Maybe time to catch up on Neil Hogan's chord solo lessons.Stuart, nice job on Powderfinger. Well played and sung. I especially like that you have included that riff between verses. Beaker.

Hi Vanessa,
Thanks. It's a pleasure to jump in with you all on this thread.
The guitar/vocal balance is something I'm working on and stems from a combination of things. I'm just starting to experiment with different mic techniques and haven't mic'd the vocals separately, which I may do next time. I played this one with my thumb, rather than a pic, to try to keep from overpowering the vocals with the guitar. But I think it mostly boils down to the fact that I've never sung outside of the shower before. My immediate reaction to hearing my recorded voice is to turn it down a few notches. Let me see if I can find a song that forces me to belt something out for you.
I'll think about bringing the camera in closer.

p.s. No, you're not bugging me.
