I am new at picking; know a little Travis.
Can you'all tell me what and where to get started with lessons and where to go on the menus ?
I have wandered around; pretty lost !

Where to start fingerpicking lessons ?

Unfortunately the lessons aren't sorted by picking vs. strumming. But a few beginning picking songs that spring to mind for me would be Freight Train and Greensleeves. Depending on how good your Travis picking is, you could also try out Dust in the Wind, Just Breathe, Dear Prudence or Blackbird.

Hi Lee, welcome to the Target program. Suzi has suggested many good songs. You mentioned that you are beginning in fingerpicking. You should consider the Mauro Giuliani exercise given by Hector Garcia. It is a little tedious as they are single lines of different finger patterns. But there is a big pay off, as you will develop the home position that Neil mentions often and finger independence. Another song I would suggest is Babe I'm gonna leave from Led Zeppelin.

Welcome to Totally Guitars. You have come to the perfect site to learn fingerstyle guitar. Especially since our instructor, Neil Hogan, is a fingerstyle guitarist.
If I'm not mistaken the Acoustic Genius series is available to everyone. And is where you should start on fingerstyle or finger-picking guitar.
But if you are really serious about learning the guitar, I highly encourage you to join the TARGET program. The price is ridiculously low, less than a 1/2 hour private lesson, and the value is immeasurable. It is the single best investment in guitar education I've ever made.
Check out some of the sample TARGET lessons and if you need more info let us know. And if your budget allows, jump in and join the rest of us. I'll bet out of the hundreds of TARGET members, not one would say they made a mistake!
