OMG M.!!!!!!

You've got me smiling bíg time during the whóle video (the ending was actually funny, haha!), that was só great!

And my little boys (doggies) sat next to me and enjoyed it as much as I did and I mean 'enjoyed' is an understatement, I absolutely LOVED it!

Alright what did I love, you singing (and my boys staying with me, haha :P, you are really being to hard on yourself on that one! ), your great strumming (wich I've never seen before, you can really do it! :cheer: ), your sense of timing doing that, the harmonica-guitarpart, uh...taking up my challenge and rise to the occasion, gosh M. like Willem said you can be proud of yourself, I'm gonna throw in a kiss as well ;), just one thing, I WANT MORE!

[quote]Hi y'all,

Well, you snooze you lose around here. I knew it would be just a matter of time before someone loaded 'Heart of Gold'. So here is my addition to the Aussie contingent of the program.

I actually recorded the rhythm track a little while ago and life-stuff has been stopping me from finishing it.

I've posted this for a number of reasons:
- I though I should pay up on a challenge given to me (by Vanessa) since I've been issuing so many lately,
- to show you that I do own a pick and sort of know how to use it,
- to have a go at multi-tracking (I'm used the new iMovie alone to edit the video and sound),
- because Brad's post inspired me to finish this project.

WARNING:
- CRAPPY singing - YIKES!! - be kind to your dogs, cover their little ears or keep them at a safe distance - I didn't do myself any favors by playing it so slowly either.
- smile free zone - I was actually feeling crappy/low energy - although I could have saved a tonne by getting rid of the grimace ... back to smile school.

I'm intending to do more strumming/flat picking songs this year - to broaden my skills - so here is the first one.

Michele

Really enjoy the video Michele. Good strumming and great voice (no matter what you think of it, you are singing great) . I really appreciate that a multi track newbie shows up as I want to get into that as well and you are coming out with excellent results, which is motivating for me to move forward.

Hi Michele, even if you might play it faster, you have the regular strumming and rock steady timing that I hope to attain. All the notes are there, no fudging ... I'm impressed ! And don't underestimate your voice, your singing is much appreciated on my side of the screen :)
Has anybody ever requested that you do a Joan Baez tune? I wouldn't be surprised.

And I'm beginning to wonder if you got the top of your left thumb snipped off, seems to me everybody has a bit of thumb sticking up from behind the guitar neck, but your hand position is picture perfect. Congratulations.

Michele,

Wooo Hooo!!!!!!!! Yeah Yeah Yeah!!!!!! I loved it. Look at you with that pick in your hand. I've got a huge smile right now as I write this. I love the Aussie version of this. Great job all around. Your second guitar part was outstanding. Now that you've done this bit I can't wait to see more pick work. Bye the way the guitar sounded great. Oh and lets not forget the vocals. Big kudos to you on that. They were pretty much spot on. Great job. I'm looking forward to your next video.

OH MICHELLE

Your friggin ROCK

That was absolutly FANTASTIC. Big smile from me here. And as the others say ...you are way to hard on yourself.

About your singing ..............by the way was not anything like you seem to think it is. Im pretty sure your are holding back because your very timid. I say "SING IT LIKE YOU OWN IT"
Let it RIP, giver hell. I sence you have a very strong voice and you are trying to hold it back. Hell I dont need a mic I just bellow at the top of my lungs LOL.......
But seriously I think you should put on some tunes you love to sing and practise singing as loud as you can (what I mean as loud as your voice allows you to comfortably, no holding back) I think your voice is shy

I loved every freakin minute of it ;)

Tammy

oh and multi tracking.......................TECH GIRLS RULE :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Thank you SO much everyone. Now who's smiling big time....?... me of course. Well I couldn't have imagined a better and more enthusiastic set of comments. I'm so stoked that you all liked it, singing and all (although I still think you're all just being sweet - but I'll take it). No wonder I keep posting with the generosity that you all show time and again - thanks. Oh and if I'd known I was going to earn kisses for my efforts I might just have gotten my act together earlier.

Willem - You're so sweet. Thanks for your gushing words and the kiss of course, a woman can never have enough of those. I'm glad you liked the harmonica. I almost contacted you to see whether you'd like to do the part, but obviously decided that I should just flat pick it instead. Thanks.

Daryl - I'm glad you liked it. As you know you're one of the reasons I decided to give multi-tracking a go. It could have been a fair bit faster to be sure. I really enjoyed the multi-tracking process. The new iMovie has some great new (I think - or I just wasn't aware of them) features in it that make the process fairly straight forward. You can only put in one PIP but you can do multiple audio tracks simultaneously. So I didn't get any further than downloading Audacity. It was fun working out the harmonica parts by ear too.

Ness - I'm THRILLED you loved it. It's great to be able to pay back some of the enjoyment you've given me while watching your videos. I'm glad the boys didn't start howling in pain as well, they're tough little guys. And I'm glad you liked the ending and didn't find it too daggy ... well maybe you did, but that's OK too since it made you laugh. I couldn't bear to look at my serious face at the end so I just had to lighten it up. BTW - If it wasn't for your challenge I probably wouldn't have completed and uploaded a Neil Young song and I had a lot of fun doing it so thanks. In fact I'm really enjoying the busking threads for that reason. It gives me an opportunity to look at stuff I've learned or partially learned, dust it off, refine it and post it. You've been such a great sport with all the challenges I've fired at you that I had to respond in kind. Thanks for the kiss too. I can't wait for your next video. (Chief of the Ness Fan Club here - just in case you didn't realise you had groupies).

Marc - Thanks. You really should give multi-tracking a go. If you decide to use iMovie I'd be happy to help with the little I know so far, it was really pretty easy. You could do some outstanding things with your playing abilities. I can't wait to see what you do. Thanks again.

Pierre - Thanks. Regarding the Joan Baez tune, Yep ...I think it was you. Her voice is actually a lot higher than mine when I'm singing in a comfortable range. I do like her stuff so I'll take another look, not that I need to be adding to my learning list at the moment. My thumb is in tack. If you look at the solo videos (the PIPs) you'll notice that I was actually sneaking my thumb over the top of the neck. In fact, I found myself cheating and hanging my thumb off the top of the neck ... don't tell Neil... ;)

Mark - Thanks for the 'woo hoo'. You know I've been studying your videos for great strumming and picking technique right? So that means a lot coming form you. Good job on the videos from Bob's house. Thanks.

Chris - 'Favourite video out of Sydney' - Thanks that really cool. It's always hard to know how it'll be received and I was really self-conscious about the singing. Feel free to add more vocals and anything else you'd like to add. And I rock eh? Stoked!

Tammy - No one has EVER told me that I 'friggin' ROCK'. Big smile here. And coming from the woman who should have an album by now that's put a big smile on my face. Re: letting go, well as you know I really need to do some training. I generally find that when I 'let go' I take the lid of the emotional Pandora's box and find it hard to not crack up with emotion. Yep...be softy. But, I'll try and give it a go anyway even if it's only in the shower. BTW - you could easily be a Tech Girl too (especially with the handy neighbour that you have showing you a few things). When's your next video coming out? I'm sure you've got a love song or two ... Thanks. B)

You're a sweet bunch. Thanks again for all of your encouraging words.
