Bud- Thank you. As long as I don't burn that Bread- it's all good

Andy- Yes, it is slower than the original. I tend to play songs as slow as I need to to get through it without (many) mistakes. I'll speed it up over time.

Willem- thanks for the tips. But IT'S A VERY HIGH SONG :laugh: I didn't even capo it where the original was-- 7TH FRET!!
I'm not prepared to work on my singing as much as I practice guitar. I don't think the family is ready for that either :laugh:

Scott- Thanks for checking it out. Yes, capo movement would be necessary for me to consider singing this one. I had it on the 5th for this video.. might move it down to 3rd.

Daryl- Thank you. I take that as a huge compliment coming from you- as I admire your playing as well.

Chris- No I wasn't listening to anything while recording. You're right about it being tough to keep a steady speed with slow songs though. I probably will record another version of this. I'll give your strumming a try as well.

Ness- You'd do an amazing version of many Bread songs. Here's one of mine (and Suzi's?) faves. Not in Target though. Maybe in the works??

Hmmm.... I never play this at the 7th fret. I capo at 2 and play it in G. Much easier to sing that way. LOL I had no idea it was at the 7th until I saw Neil's lesson on it.

It seems like years since I've last seen you play. Great job as always. As others have said your transitions from strumming to fingerpicking were fantastic. Well done and great sound coming out of that guitar.

Hi TG friends. I was inspired by Al to busk a David Gates Bread song. Growing up in the 70's in Southern California, my friends and I were heavily into Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Van Halen, etc. So, I was a closet Bread fan sneaking into my older sister's room and listening to her records...
I've been thinking about tackling my fear of singing, but this song is a bad choice for that, way too high for me for sure...
I stuck to my one take philosophy which always leads to mistakes and some sour notes, but here it is...

Well, Craig, Bravo! I didn't hear very many sour notes! That was very nice, always liked that song. That is way too high of vocals for most of us normal humans - but it is high enough to enable you to sing it an octave lower and still sound good. Not sure what octave you sang in your head but food for thought. How long you been hiding that one? One take, huh? That was Van Halen philosophy. Not mine that's for sure LOL. Great job!

Scott (btw your path and mine sound a lot alike, being closet easy-listening fans. I loved Bread too. I also am no longer ashamed to admit loving Karen Carpenter who IMHO may have been the best female vocalist of all time [in line with Dennis' lusting women post lol]).

I must check out the bread lessons 'cos i am not so familair with them and could'nt recognice the song and when i must geuss it is maybe ''diary''??

ps Now you have your own accompaniment that you could convert from your video to an mp3 and put it on your Ipod or such and while driving,,running,bicycle and showering you could sing with it as much as you like..

If you can't sing it you could try picking the melody while you play your video. BTW very nice playing. Like others have said, I didn't hear any sour notes either.
