Busking Bread
Hi Craig,
I thought that was excellent and I have to agree, despite your one take philosophy (which frankly makes me shudder) I didn’t hear a sour note or mistake at all. I think it’s a good idea that you didn’t rush it but at the same time considering how well you are playing it I would suspect you’ll be pacing up the tempo a bit as you move forward. I would have been nice to hear you singing it too but you are right, it is way up there (I wouldn’t touch it) and I couldn’t hear the singing in your head
Great job, thanks for sharing this,
♫ Ken ♫

Scott, Thanks for the kind words! As long as I'm confessing, she had a Barry Manilow record too! I must also concur with you on Karen Carpenter's voice!
Willem,, I always appreciate your support. I should have mentioned that the song is "If".
Daryl, Good idea about the melody notes. That would be a nice challenge for me. Thanks for the comment.
Al, I wouldn't have posted this if it weren't for you. Thank you for the inspiration!
Kevin, Thanks for not letting me get away with singing in my head only! The sign of a true TG friend!

Well seeing as were having a meeting in the closet for Bread here... I'll sign up!
Beautifully played Craig! That was absolutely lovely. I was singing along in my head too.... I've been wanting to do a Bread song for a long time... but its pretty high singing, that's for sure! Anyway, it really was beautiful so I'd have a stab at some vocals here if I were you.

Craig,
There's nothing more delicious than freshly busked Bread. Absolutely lovely. I sang along with your playing and realized that I had to sing almost the entire song in falsetto, so I can understand your reluctance to sing. So, slap on a capo, find a key that's comfortable for you, and take another whack at it.
Your playing was darned near perfect. You might have a one-take philosophy, but in this case I don't think an extra 10 takes would have yielded anything better than this. Very well done!

Craig, WOW! Man that sounded beautiful!! (This one kind crept in there on me...sorry for being late.)
If there was anything wrong with that. I sure don't know what it was! I really enjoyed that.
NICE TONE!!! The one take philosophy appears to be working for you!
Got a chuckle out of your back- in- the- day-story...LOL! Good stuff! Did sis get mad at you listening to her
bread records? Did she rat you out to your hard rockin' pals?
P.S. looks like some interesting wall art behind you. Charcoal figure drawing?
Way to Go! Thanks for the post, DUDE!

Mike, Thanks! I appreciate your comment. Funny, the singing always sounds good in my head!
Ken, The one take thing isn't as brave as it sounds. It's a fairly easy song and I had been practicing for a couple weeks. Someday I will post "Classical Gas" and I will need about 50 takes for that!!
Bob, Thanks for watching. I always appreciate your support!
Chris, I started looking at "Diary" a few days ago and you popped into my mind as someone that I thought could sing it well. Give it a look. Thanks for your encouragement, I appreciate it.
Steve, Thanks for taking the time to watch. I'm my own worst critic, so your positive feedback goes far for my self-confidence.
Dennis, Thank You Dennis. I will try the capo and see if I can stumble into a range I can handle. Usually I just say I can't sing it, and move on to another song! I hope you know that I have a lot of respect for you, so your comment means a lot to me.
Cori, Thanks for the support! I'm the youngest of three, so I had to sneak into my brothers room to listen to his Alice Cooper, Ten Years After, Pink Floyd etc...then to my sister's room for Bread, The Carpenters, and Barry Manilow! All the while my Dad would play his Nat King Cole, Broadway Musicals, and Country Western! Looking back, it was a great musical upbringing! ... My wife is part Hawaiian so most of the stuff on the walls is Hawaiian art of some kind, you are correct on the charcoal drawing! Thanks again
