I have absolutely no problem with the banner taking a while to get to Sydney. It can keep wandering the globe for a while, that's OK by me. I'm looking forward to seeing it almost full and having to squeeeeeeeeeze my name in somewhere. Seeing all your signatures will be REALLY cool!!!

What's your hurry Chas? Afraid you'll forget how to sign or play by the time it gets to you? :P

Gee I've got a bit of catching up to do watching these videos it would seem.

M.

Don't get me wrong I've no problem either, its great to see the travels and the guys playing. But... the bar keeps getting raised as far as playing is concerned lol! I guess there's plenty room on the reverse :silly:

Here is an update on the continuing saga of the TG Banner World Tour. Suzi mailed it to me on Monday. It arrived on Tuesday. Wednesday evening, Bassman Jerry and I recorded a song we just started working on for the Banner Tour and then we signed the Banner. There’s a video of that, too. Heatndude couldn’t break away for very long, so we arranged to meet and have dinner back in Madison the next evening (Thursday) to do a Banner hand-off. Tonight (Friday), he was planning to shoot his signing video, and then send it on the way to the next member. I had already contacted Marc (Lavallee) for some guidance on which way he would like it to go next. He suggested that we get it back to the east coast and allow it to circulate among the members that were skipped in its brief detour to the mid-west. So, it’s been a whirlwind tour here and the next recipient is Wrench.

The first video that we shot was a song that we decided to tackle a week ago. Jerry had worked up a nice harmonica part and, in order to make room for it, we extended the song by doing the chorus an additional time at the end. In our first take, everything was going surprisingly well when I forgot we were adding the chorus and messed up the ending in a miserable way. So, the following video is our second take for the evening (we didn’t have time to do any more). I had originally thought that we might want to do a more polished song for our Banner posting, but this is probably more appropriate. A video about learning to play a song on a site dedicated to learning to play songs. Here it is . . . .

. . . . and signing . . . . . . . . .

. . . . and the ending that crashed and burned on the first take . . . . .

. . . . and, last but not least, “OUR SECRET IS OUT”, Heatndude takes possession of the Banner.

Heatndude and the TG Banner

Hope you enjoyed it,

Jerry and Rick,

You guys are SO cool.

I remember thinking I'd come back and watch this one when I had more time...oooooops. I guess I got distracted. My loss.

Great video.

Oops, second attempt to post a video file...

Edit: Maybe third attempt :cheer:

Abilio

I can't believe how many signings I've missed to date.

Abilio, That was a beautiful rendition of Blackbird. I really enjoyed it. And I loved the bloopers at the beginning too.

Here's the TG Banner in Switzerland on 23rd August 2011.
In attendance were Marc (on visit from Canada), David "Waggis" (from USA living here already for 25 years) and myself, Chris (from England, living here for 27 years). We had a BBQ on my balcony and then picked up our guitars for a few songs on a hot August night (sounds like something out of a Neil Diamond song).
We were struggling to find a song to do but came up with Sound of Silence (carrying on Riever's theme)... which was then promptly shattered by the only noise heard all night (except the noise were were making!). So we started again....

Later Marc had to leave to travel to Lausanne and David and I tuned our guitars to open C and practised Question. It was a very pleasant evening and it was great to see Marc again and finally meet David.
Marc, Chris, David,

This was great! Such a lovely video. I LOVED the Waggis story too.

OK... my excuse for being so late ... well I must have been hijacked by aliens and replaced by a non-forum participating, unresponsive doppelganger....

...I'm back!

very nice.

T.G Banner Song...

I'm tellin' ya what I don't know how I missed that song!! That was great fellas! Just great! You sure that isn't unrealized Neil Young
material? What quality song-writing! Great playing on this too! Excellent, excellent!!

I really would like a copy of this tune somehow. I listen to a lot of music that isn't anywhere near that good!

Everytime I see another video on the banner I wonder if there's going to be room for me to sign it. LOL I know how Chas feels.
I also wonder if we should reserve space for Neil and Matt to put their scribbles on it. Right in the middle somewhere I would think.

The bar keeps getting raised on the video also. I'm trying to think of something to do on my video that is different. So far, every time I begin working on a song to shoot a video for, someone beats me to it. Except for Southern Cross that is.

Question:

When it get's here to Hawaii, does anyone mind if I have a banner signing party of all the Hawaii TG members? I think out of the 30 or so here, only 3 of us have ever posted in the forum.

It’s nice to see some new wind in the sails of this thread.
In this day of emails, texting and instant messages it understandable that commenting on something that is physically traversing the world may go quiet for a while.
I suppose that makes it that much more special. Before I go further on that let me comment and answer some questions regarding my post.

Cori – Thanks for the kind words. That was Greg Lake’s “Still You Turn Me On” so you’re right on the money with it being prog rock. Good ear! Of course I would have preferred that you recognized it! LOL .. but I didn’t play much and it is a bit obscure.
Regarding where it’s going next and how to sign up, take a look at the tentative list in the first post in this thread.

Willem – Thanks for watching. Your comment reminds me of a picture postcard I once got from a friend. I was a satellite photo of the planet Earth. On the back he simply wrote “Wish you were here” Maybe he was onto something!
I’m happy it brought back some good memories for you.

Scott – Indeed this made my Thanksgiving special. Thanks for watching and the comments. Oh and nice to see that you recognized it. Judging by some of the other comments it seems to have escaped many.

Suzi – I totally agree. Recording a little guitar playing along with the signing should be mandatory!!! Well, perhaps that’s asking a bit much :-)
I live Queens NY. It may not be Manhattan proper but it is New York City. I have a friend with property in Binghamton. Beautiful part of NY. Thanks for the kind comments.

Dan – Thanks for the comments. I know what a Greg Lake fan you are so that means a lot. The Sage is next from GL’s playlist.
Yep, a whole SNL themed video could have been fun and I thought about it. I guess I didn’t want to stray much from the spirit of the Banner signing.

Thanks Tony. You know, I looked at that big gap in the middle and came this close *holds fingers together* from signing smack dab in the center but when the cap came off the pen I veered towards the guitars. Besides, maybe we’re saving that spot for you :-)

Dermot – Thanks for the kind comments. Actually I zoomed the banner out in the beginning and in at the end at the same speed. When I played it back it seemed way to slow at the end so I sped that up by 300%.
I’m not certain who’s next, I’m just starting to PM people. There’s a few left in NY and from there it’s Jersey bound!

Thanks Chas. The effects I’m using are deep chorus and med-short reverb. The effects come from the Behringer mixer I’m using. I use it mostly for vocals but I sent a little thru to the guitar.
For this I sent the mixer output directly into a camcorders input (thus the headphones) rather than an amp but it’s amazing what you can do with the mixer’s effects when amplified.

Chris - Thanks for watching. I‘m very happy to be here :-)

Thanks Pete. Cool is always good in my book!

Bob – Thanks for the kind words. I agree it’s nice to see the banner continuing on its journey. It’s something we’ll be able to savor for some time to come.

Ness – Thanks so much for the flattering remarks. I’m very happy to make you smile. God knows you’ve brought countless hours of smiles and Oh’s and Ah’s to all of us here. You words mean a lot to me.

Michele – I’m happy to see you were able to catch-up. Boy do I know busy and that why I was so lucky to be able to get the banner when I had a little free time. Thanks for the kind words about my addition to this.

It would seem that the image was not uploaded properly because the actual link gives a 404 - file not found error.

The requested URL /images/fbfiles/images/Little_green_man.png was not found on this server.

Maybe it doesn't like .png files??
