I was lucky enough to receive the TG Banner the day before Thanksgiving (thanks Matt!) so I spent a little less time thinking about turkey, football, family and friends than I would have normally.

I did spend more time trying to figure what to play, what to say, how to sign it and how to capture all this to share.

By Saturday morning I had it sort of figured out so I got to the business of making a few video clips, editing it all together and uploading it to YouTube.

I so wanted to yell “Live from New York, its Saturday Night!” but it was neither Sat night nor would it be live so I settled on a reference in the title.




I have to say it was not only a pleasure but an honor to sign the banner and play a little guitar underneath it.

For me it’s a symbol of what a fantastic community we have here and I consider myself extremely lucky to be a part of it.

So, without any more babbling from me, here’s my little contribution to the TG Banner World Tour. Hope you enjoy it!

Since I was the last to share my time spent with the banner I guess I ought to chime in here. I started messaging people the day after I wrapped up posting my video. I went down the “start up” list on the first page of this thread state by state starting with my own. I was a little surprised that I was getting no replies to my PM’s but had to keep in mind that not everyone listed visits the forum on a regular basis. I started to get a few ‘not interested at this time’ replies as well as scheduling problems due to prior commitments so I continued down the list. Eventually I made arrangements to send the banner on but that was not after contacting a dozen people listed. In any event the banner made its way south and was delivered to the next recipient a few days before Christmas. I expect that we’ll be hearing of its whereabouts any time now.

On another note, here’s a little fun fact that I meant to but failed to mention when I posted my video. The guitar playing segment was recorded with me playing with a new pick (plectrum for those easily offended) that was so kindly contributed by one of the earlier recipients *glances at Hydroman and smiles* A very thoughtful gesture indeed that helped me feel more connceted to the TG community. Thanks Hydro.

Was it a double gleued pick?? everytime I grip my pick I think of the hydro pick and want to make it and experiment with it..

They look wonderful but never tryed one,,,I think you must buy two 'cos if they not work you can always make a fire in the woods..while camping.

heh, heh ... No Willem, it wasn't a double glued pick. It was Fender medium if I recall. The marking has since worn off. I've never been too particular about the picks I use. Hell, I've been know to play with matchbook covers, playing cards, poker chips, Tiddlywinks pieces, you name it and I've strummed with it. Although I can't recall using a stone pick. One of the important criteria I have for picks is the color. Bright yellow suits me well because it's easy to find when dropped or otherwise misplaced. The pick I used just stood as being comfortable to play with despite its brown, blend into the carpet color. I actually forgot I was using it until I was finished and promptly misplaced it.

Ken - I'm very happy that you found something useful, and thanks for the feedback . . . . it brought some cheer to a cold day.

Willem - Sorry, there are no FrankenPicks or Bride-of-FrankenPicks included with the banner. However, I do believe that I put some Dunlop Tortex 1mm picks in there. These are the blue ones that Neil uses (I think). They had been my pick of choice since before I joined TG, but then I discovered the thicker Dunlop Tortex 1.14mm picks (purple colour . . . . . not very manly, but the world isn't perfect), and those became the goto ones . . . . until I started in on the demented experimenting in the tower laboratory with the FrankenPicks (IT'S ALIVE!!!!). So, those that are next in line with the banner can see what that's all about.

Hi Everybody,
The banner has been safe and sound in my hands for a little while. It was delivered to my home just before Christmas but unfortunately my wife and I had left to spend the holidays in New England. We got back just after the first of the year and I then did a bit of scrambling around to borrow a video camera and learn how to use it. The delay since then was in finding someone interested in receiving it next. I sent out a number of PMs but didn't get any replies until a few days ago. It's now with UPS and headed south. I hope to have something put together to post shortly.
