Remember the old saying......."Be careful of what you wish for"...... ;) I am cleaning up a bunch of recent transcriptions and working through the audio/video mixing. Have to say that it is getting closer and I am having fun learning about it all. I just need to pick a song that I know well enough to have some comfort in attempting to sing.

If singing is what brought you to playing the guitar, then you had a head start....lol I like the playing part and have ALWAYS been nervous about the singing part... :)

Michele, so sorry to hear about your flooded room - that really sucks. My parents house got flooded last year when their water softener unit sprunk a leak and on down the hall and into the bedrooms the water went. Never a fun thing. Hope you get you problem taken care of - and glad your guitars are safe.

Scott
Thanks Scott and Den. It does suck, but it's under control for the moment. My room looks like an obstacle course, potential water traps included, carpet caves, carpet nails (I've already impaired my feet - ouch!); yep I had to rip up the carpet. Perhaps my guitars just wanted to spend more time in the rest of the house. :) sneaky things. They could have just told me so instead of peeing on the carpet. ... Oh I think I'm in a silly mood. I can feel the weekend coming on - yeh!

Sometimes you've just got to laugh. It saves on tissues. :)

Dennis; Nice work on the Elvis number. For a while there I was getting worried for the green vase! Glad to see it was still intact at the end.

So - inspired by Michele's space cowboy references, this sprang to mind. And it had a few things going for it;
1. It uses all 5 open major chords
2. The melody line contains (though not consecutively) 4 notes each separated by a semitone; B, C, Db and D. This seemed, to me anyway, an interesting bit of theory - and makes adding a harp solo a little out of my league!
3. It's one of the few songs not yet posted by shargram.

I already pinched one of Dennis's ideas and simply recorded it on my laptop. I'll now pinch another;

10:00 Re-arranged furniture to make house look less messy
10:15 Started recording song
10:30 Threw guitar in the corner and went to make tea
10:45 Started recording song
11:00 Threw guitar in the corner and went to make coffee
11:15 Started recording song
11:30 Finally! A take I was happy with! Hadn't started recording..........
11:31 Threw guitar in the corner and opened a beer
11:45 Started recording song
12:00 Yes - another success........and this time time I WAS recording
12:05 Watched play back - didn't like how I looked. Decided I should grow a beard.
12:15 Grew a beard.
12:20 Finally - the finished video has been recorded.

Stuart,
Nice work! Very enjoyable. Between tea, coffee, and beer, I'm surprised there wasn't a bathroom break in there! :laugh:

Stuart very nice job!! Apart from the playing and singing your message with this song had me laugh out loud in my home office this morning. My wife must think I'm going nuts in here. Great way to start a Friday morning. Thanks!!

Great job on your song, Stu. And while I loved your timeline intro, one line in particular stands out as something I wish I'd said.

Stuart,

:laugh: :) :laugh:

Great schedule. You made it just in time but please take my advice; never drink tea or coffe, it's a waste of time.
Wise choice the 5 minute beard. It gives you a serene look for the song.
Thanks for the theory approach. So it's an ascending chromatic scale solo based, am I right?

Thanks Stuart, and to all who made this thread so enjoyable,
Oh, great playing and singing too,
Abilio
