Ness,

Let's just get it out in the open: I love you, and I don't care who knows about it. I love the unbridled joy you experience when you play. I love your precision on the guitar. And I love your perfect voice. This may have been a medley of simple songs, but you make them something special. And, by the way, I was singing harmony on "Still haven't found..." with you. We sounded pretty good together.

It will be a dark day if you ever decide to stop posting videos on this site.

Jim,

I love hearing old protest songs, so thanks for bringing that one here.

Something that's been mentioned to you before, but probably bears repeating since it showed up in this video, too: you appear to have a death-grip on the pick. The result is that your picking hand is clamped and tense, and prevents you from introducing dynamics in your strumming. Not to embarrass you or call you out on this, but watch Vanessa strum, and notice how lightly she brushes the few strings she actually hits, yet she gets so much sound and variety out of her strumming. We could all do much worse than to emulate that.

Very Nicely played Vanessa, it is amazing that this medley seemed to have been written exactly like that. Whenever you play and sing, it sounds perfect.

Your are kickin

Hi Jim, it is great that you are getting comfortable with the camera, your playing is improving all the time. To go along with what Dennis mentioned about the strumming, I would suggest the quick tip (just discovered that section) about strumming. You will visualize with Neil, what Dennis just explain:

Cheers Jim

Jim - Nice addition to this thread. I don't know a lot of Woody's songs but I have heard this one before somehere. Good job, thanks for sharing.

Ness - What a nice trilogy. You always look like you're having so much fun, which is part of what makes it fun so much fun to watch.

After the posting last week of the Donovan song by Chris and the comment about protest songs that are still relevant today, I thought I would try one. It has 3 chords, A, D, E and is a bit monotonous :)

The song is called Deportee - Plane Wreck at Los Gatos; lyrics by Woodie Guthrie, music by Martin Hoffman

Sometimes picking up a guitar and singing a song can be a political statement!

PLEASE NOTE: If video was recently uploaded it will not work yet. YouTube will need a little more time to get the video ready. Please check back again soon.
Jim,

It's good to see you being inspired to add another song. This is a good choice.

Nancy Griffith does a nice version of this song...hmmm...maybe it's Linda Ronstandt that I'm thinking of. It doesn't matter, the importance of the issue remains the same.

Thanks for coming back. I need to do the same.

MJ - ahhemmmmm ... Someone please pass the guitar to Jason. :)

Yes, good idea, I say pass it to Jason, indeed! And Brad, Al, Hydro, & Scott (either one of 'em). Snipe too!
(that's right Mike, I saw ya in here yesterday looking around at the place...comm'on man. It's been too long.)
And you know it has been a mild winter, maybe we can coax the bear out of his cave...Bill too maybe!

Hey anything can happen...If I had told you two weeks ago that we would soon get to SEE & HEAR Daryl perform...would you have
believed me?
