Kevin, that was a great post (Jambalaya), good on you for teaching us how to play a fun song in 3 seconds, and you better wear steel-toed boots in case you drop that mug :silly:

Daryl, I really enjoyed that Lennon cover (India) ... guess you've explored a lot of obscure Lennon demos (just a hunch).
I remember that a little while after John left us, there was a weekly hour-long syndicated radio show playing John's solo demos.
It was really wonderful stuff, with a lot of narration by a buddy-buddy of Yoko.
The show was called "The Lost Lennon Tapes" ... there was a lot of PR hype around it, like it was discovering King Tut's tomb or something very mysterious.
Anyway, it went on for months and I loved it, never missed one. After some weeks of this, the local radio announcer who introduced the program said "Man! He sure lost a LOT of tapes !". :side: :(

Stuart, you obviously had a lot of inspiration to play harmonica while strumming and singing (Love Me Do) ... good thing that you added some "expiration" or we might have lost you !
Well done ! Fun !

I apologise profusely for the terrible sound quality. But, I can't get to the bottom of the problem and the weekend is almost over.

I’ve been recording this today and for some reason I can’t fix the sound quality problem. I thought it was OK and then when it converted to mp4 from m4v it became distorted too. Unfortunately this is the best I can do. I’ve been promising to put something up for a while so I thought I’d better deliver regardless of the crappy sound. Sorry.

Well yes Andy was right. The song I was referring to in my cursing thread was James Blunt’s “You’re Beautiful”. It has only 4 chords G (320033), D11/F# (200233) Em7 (022033) and C9 (x32033). (I’m capoing at the 7th so that of course changes them). You basically plant your pinky and third finger and just move your first and second for the duration of the song. I like the droning 2 high notes, which add sparkle. It would be better with the other prominent guitar track added. I might do that later if I can sort the sound issues, once I’ve re-recorded.

I hope you get something out of it regardless.

thanks

Shel

Michelle,
I thought your strumming was solid and your singing was great. I know it doesn't make sense and shouldn't matter, but sometimes when I capo that far up the neck it affects my strumming, not sure why??? Thank you for teaching me a new song!
Well done,

Craig

Oh my gosh, what a $@#@$#@ ;) gréat way to start my day!!!! :cheer: :woohoo:

And despite of the distorted sound I could still hear that you're singing this really good, I just really love how you reach those high notes, seems effortless. Same for your strumming, it just really flows and is very consistent in tempo, just great great great GREAT! :) :)

And on top of all that I could see a here and there smiling Shel, and looking at us, I ábsolutely LOVED that!!!!!

Way too go sweetie, your progress shows in every video you put up, just LOVE it!

Ness

Michele, very nice strumming, good variation in the strumming intensity. I also noticed the smiles. I thought you sang very well. I also liked the song which I always thought has a mood calming effect and you are transferring that effect.

Shel:

That was really nice. I like that song quite a bit and thought that you nailed the strumming and that your singing was vry solid as well. Like Ness mentioned the sound problem did not take too much away from the performance. Are you using a mic, or just the recorder itself to get the audio?

I agree about seeing the smiling Michele as well. Quite beautiful...... ;)

Excellent cover and addition to the thread..... B)

Holy cow, Shel, I just love this performance of a song I'm totally unfamiliar with. You did two things that just jumped out at me from the screen. First, your strumming is about as smooth and relaxed as any I've ever seen on TG, and that includes Neil himself. Second, you appear so much more relaxed than I've ever seen you look, and the result is a confidence in your playing and singing that I don't think has ever existed to this degree,

To anyone who says there's nothing to learn from busking threads, just watch Michele's strumming. That's a lesson right there.

Great job, Shel, and thanks for starting my day off so beautifully.

:) :) That was great Michele.........you even had me reaching for the emoticons up front!!

Loved seeing you play and sing again - and also relaxing enough to give us a smile. It's great to see your continuing development as a performer.

What's next?!

Stuart
