Kevin, now I got that ol' hound-dog look ... so you must be doing something right !
Nice job, that was fun, cause I really like the country stuff.

Cori and Krista, this made me smile big-time ... great vocals and a nice happy mood to contradict the lyrics :P
Cori, good concentrated playing there. I agree about playing the intricate parts more sparingly, you maybe felt the treadmill effect sometimes ...
By the way, I tried out a resonator guitar today. Did you get one as a second guitar or was it your first ? I don't remember you posting with a regular folk acoustic.

Jim, good going. As was stated, your strumming is getting more fluid ... keep it up.

Jim,

Great addition to this thread. Way to go with finding a song that meets the double assignment criteria. Woo hoo!

From the first strum it's obvious that you've been taking people's advice on board. Your strum is lighter a d you are digging in much less often. Great job!

This is a favourite song in my house, especially while playing cards at which time I especially love to sing loudly (my secret winning formula - the distraction of the crappy singing :) gives me an edge. :) ). Of course, because our Spanish is so good we sing "one tonne of mayo, on a one tonne tomatoe". :) sacrilege? ! Probably. :) Linda Ronstand and Jackson Brown do a great version of this song.

Hey on Glee the other day they said that 70% of the world will be speaking Spanish by 2031 or something like that and that people learn languages faster through music. Hmmm. Good reasons to learn this one. :)

Thanks Jim cool way to deliver.

Jim- WOW, what a cool song to put up! Double Whammy! Way to go! Man you're strumming sounds wonderful!! Whatever you're doing in that regard...keep it up it sounds great!! It TRULY is getting better all the time!! Thanks for the Spanish lesson! :)

THANK YOUS:

Bob- Thank you kindly, Sir!! :) :)

Craig Blonde Whig, ha ha :) We hadn't thought of that! Good Idea! Thanks Craig glad You liked it!

Suzi & Michelle Thank You, very much!! (especially for the nice things you both had to say about Krista's vocals on this song. I have to admit this is my favorite of her vocal performances thusfar. :) :) And it sounds like you are both Dolly Fans...cool, cool!!
On the arrangement, thing Suzi...I could definitely give that a try and see what it sounds like. I agree that the timing is questionable here and there... ( Besides, I 'll try anything once...well almost anything...I'll never eat escargot. No offense meant, good people of France!) I/We tried several different combinations. At one point Krista was playing a simple boom-chuck kinda rhythm along with me and then a syncopated thing during the verse...but that never really panned out. The arrangement I ended up going with/attempting was pretty much how it was straight out of a Acoustic Guitar Magazine I had. (for one guitar...a composite arrangement) One thing about it that bugged me perhaps most...playing-wise, was some of the abrasiveness/loudness of some of the strums/rakes over the verse when Krista is singing. I dunno...definitely good to get feedback from others. I DO sincerely appreciate your candor on this, both of you...and as always...thanks for your support & enthusiasm!! Thanks ladies!!

Dennis Wow, man!!! multiple times? cool :) :) Well, I guess you must of liked it, dude! Thanks especially for the kind things you had to say about Krista's vocals...I thought she did pretty well too...I must say. Thanks, Again Dennis!

Tom Thanks Tom, Very, very kindly, Sir!!! :) :) I know I sound like a broken record, but thank you especially for the nice things you had to say about Krisa's vocals!! I think we both almost, always have the giggles...more Krista this time than me...Thanx again, TOM!!

Pierre Thanks Pierre!! :) :) Alright, very cool! I hope you become a resonator owner...I don't thnk there is anything quite like 'em. This Dean resonator I have ain't real flashy or pricey but I like it for the money and I like the metallic twangy tone.
And, yep I think most normal people would get something like the resonator for playing exclusively slide or novelty second guitar thing...but it is my main guitar. Not counting my other generic crappers! lol! I do miss/long for the sound of a well-put together flattop guitar. (I have my eye on a pretty sweet Guild. (sorry probably more info than you wanted...) Thanks Pierre!!

Daryl - Glad you liked the song and the strumming!

Tom - Thanks for commenting!

Pierre- Thanks again for noticing!

Shel - I loved your comment! As I started, I was very focused on holding the pick lightly and strumming lightly - so much so that I felt the singing and whole video was a bit low energy - not sure how to fix that. You should turn on the camera at your card night. I would love to see you singing "one tonne of mayo on a one tonne tomato :)

Cori - Thanks for the comments. Jolene was fantastic -great vocals from Krisa!

Jim,
Nice job! As others have mentioned already, your strumming is improving...and that's really why we are all here isn't it? Way to go. Keep up the good work.

Krista and Cori, great fun to watch. Krista you should try to get in a singing contest, what a fantastic voice and a good presence (looking natural, without pressure , seems to have fun, looking at the camera , etc...) during the video . Cori that was great playing , I thought it was funny at the end when you gave that look as if your fingers were going to caught fire because they were going so fast.

Marc- You know, thanks for saying that Marc. I've told Krista she should enter Idol too....and win us a bunch of $$$ LOL! I am obviously not the best judge of singing ability...but to me she sounds pretty durn good!! too Thanx!! And also thanx for the kudos on the playing!! I was probably looking down @ my hands because I was surprised I got through it. lol!

Kevin Thanks SO MUCH KEV!! Ditto, all the thank-yous, for Marc, about Krista's singing! I/We appreciate it very much! Also, yep that was the first time with "that strange, plastic, weird alien, thump-pick...lol!) I get the feeling you're pretty comfortable with one! (thumbpick) I am guessing you have done your share of that type /style of playing. (Based on your fingerstyle chops & taste(s) in music. Thanks Again Kev!! Ahhhhoooooooo!!! I mean, Baaa!
