Hey everyone,

Thanks so much for your really kind words. It was a fun little "challenge" for me on a rainy, cold Friday morning. The fact that Bruce's version was actually pretty lame (no offense, Mr. Springsteen) made it a lot easier for me to just write something up and not feel like it needed to be "awesome." I'd encourage more people to just have a go at it. It shouldn't take you long (I probably devoted about an hour and a half to the whole thing- from the writing to the filming), so it's something any of us can do. And it's fun to do something creative. Plus, the nice thing about writing your own song is that no one knows if you mess up the lyrics, or the solo, or the melody or the progression or, or........ :)

Tony, I signed up for a blues class that is through the university's continuing education program. It's an evening class for adults, meets once per week for 1 1/4 hours each time. It's an 8 week class. I've had 5 classes so far and learned quite a bit. I just took a basic 12 bar blues progression in A and worked with that. I kept it really easy, as I'm sure you can tell.

Again, I'm just really glad everyone enjoyed this. Can't wait to see what everyone else contributes!!

Suzi

Well, I knew you were taking a blues class, but who knew you'd integrate it into your playing so quickly ,.. and so well. I really enjoyed seeing how comfortable you were on camera, Sue -- but I guess after you play a few live gigs like you have lately, the camera is nothing. Congrats on a really sweet performance.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you throw down a gauntlet.

Great work, Sue. You sure put Bruce in his place. And really nice to see a change of direction from you with some blues playing. I have to say that i wasn't expecting to see anything of this quality, especially so soon into the challenge.

So come on the rest of you, you've seen now how it's done. The bar has been set pretty high - who's fancies stepping up to the plate next?

Den and Ness, thanks so much! You all are so sweet and supportive. I really appreciate it. Stu- I'm glad that I didn't disappoint, as the first (and hopefully not last!!) entry in this challenge. And thank you for coming up with this really fun idea!! I hope that other people flex their creative muscle and have a go at it. Can we expect something from you, Stu? We all know that you can pen a song when need be! ;)

BRAVO!!!! Miss Suzie.

You got your blues showing Suzi.Talk about gabbing a challenge and running with it!! Bravo girl, you go.
What a great way to start this challenge.I really enjoyed you standing up to play its hard not to get the fill for the music when your standing. You were really starting to fill it by the end, rocking your head and bouncing to the grove. And a nice lick at the end.BRAVO!!

Yeah Suzi, that's the stuff ! B)

Great to see that you are seeking new influences and soaking them up.

You seem nicely at ease with the whole performance aspect there ... ain't it so cool when that darn pinky finger starts to cooperate ?
