A little reply to Willem about being at IGC this year

TG started our International Guitar Camp in 2013 and now are hosting two each year, our Spring Camp at the end of April and our Fall Camp in early September.

This was my reply to Willem about some of my IGC experiences, re-posted from another thread to share here.

Hi Willem,
I had a great time at the IGC. It was great meeting everyone who participates on the forum and others who don't.

I obviously travelled a fair distance and that in itself was an adventure. After the first days lessons I thought, well if nothing else happens
then it's already been worth the money, it was that good. The people giving the lessons were just top notch and the ideas and even the books,
cd's, Dvd and program on cd that I purchased were top notch. I think everyone who was there will have been rejuvenated and working harder now
as we were all exposed to some great and in some cases (Al Stewart) interesting, creative and brilliantly entertaining people.
It was great meeting Neil, I need say no more there, except of course the camp was a huge success with him being at the helm and his lovely wife Nani, his sister and his great team were just outstanding!! I have to thank Neil and Matt for making this opportunity available to me and everyone else.

I attended two concerts, Al Stewart and then Muriel Anderson. At this point I think I was suffering from talent exposure overload!!
We had met so many great guitar/teacher/players it was almost overwhelming but simply magnificent at the same time.

A special mention has to go out to some of the nicest people I have ever met and there were many believe me, the ones I am thinking of are Jason (Music Junkie)
and Rick (Big Bear), Wiley, a mind of great information, Lynn (AuntLynnie) and our very own Vanessa. I also met Fly on the wall stars Sandy and Fred who are both great people to be around and talk guitar with. The list goes on and on and on.................Having a common interest such as the guitar is a great ground for stimulating conversation.

I'm going to shut up now Willem as I may be rambling a bit after a long two days and I need some sleep. I will get around to reading everyone elses postings in the next few days or so. but that is my short update for now.

Willem - we were all sorry that you couldn't make it to IGC - you are a constantly positive presence on the forums, and we all hope you will be able to attend next year.

Tombo, I love the phrase "talent exposure overload"..... very apropos.

Yes Willem,
you are right, something as good as this has lasting memories. I wasn't joking about the talent overload. Each guest teacher was of a very high standard,
All of them were different, but had the same one similarity and that was that they were just so dam good at what they do. It was inspirational to say the least.

One thing I have taken from being at the IGC is that you should believe that whatever you want to do guitarwise you should go for, and believe that you can do it.
A lot of what guitar playing is about is practicing smart and hard and enjoying the guitar journey. :)

Hi Ness,
firstly, thanks for all the behind the scenes and out front work you and others did, your efforts were most appreciated. :)

It was great to meet you finaly, you are a ball of never ceasing energy and talent. I am so glad you were at the camp this year.
You have really taken full grasp of your new TG teacher role with both hands to good effect and it is great to see.

Thanks for the singing comments, I find it difficult to take praise on something that I feel limited on, but I appreciate your support.

My jetlag is dissapearing, I am almost back to normal on that front. :)

I can't believe how great camp was, something that will stick in my mind for a long time to come. :)

Cheers,

Tom N.
