So far I'm completely happy with the new HP Pavillion. Its doing everything it should and everything better than the old Dell including running the lessons (flow player) much better on TG. Windows 8 is a bit of a puzzle first few days finding your way around but, I have to say, so far no problems, everything works well, no (touch wood) compatibility problems... although I have not installed Audition yet... that could be a problem... we'll see!

EDIT: Just tried to record using 3 different programs including Audacity and it looks like the inbuilt mic is a piece of crap! Really bad recordings with a broken up audio signal. ;-(

So what does anyone recommend to use to record... we have had many discussions about that here... but now I can't remember all the solutions... Buddy had a good one and so did Al... what were they again guys?

If I record something I allways have to choose the right mike(the inbuilt or the external),,but I record with a other webcam (not the build in one) and the program ask me.. but this is with video,,you did only audio??

Just audio, Willem. Same problem using the inbuilt mic as using my excellent Zenheiser external mic... really odd...

Okay,,but can you choose on the laptop or program between the two?? I don't think I can be useful in this...

Do you have a sort of program on your laptop( I had it on my laptop when i bought it) that calls ''IDT audio adjustments''

I don't have windows 8,,,I have 7...I think windows 8 should'nt be in the way for that kind of stuff........goodluck..

Not a Techie......but, did you check for updated drivers for your audio card? Or maybe a corrupt driver that needs re-installation. I haven't needed to do anything like that in a long time, but when I was still wandering around in the tech world, this would have been the second thing I would have checked (you have already checked the first thing). You may also try Googling your computer model and add something like "internal mic sounds like crap". It can be surprising how many time a search like that turns up a solution.

I had to get a DI box to avoid/bypass the noise of my sound card on my desktop ( intergrated), electric hum/ hiss
Worked and is so clear.
