I have deleted my earlier question as just worked out my mistake when counting the notation.
Below is my corrected image for anyone that's interested.

Just a timing thing Dermot, and you can read it, I know you can! You knów how long an eight note lasts and a quarternote. At which beat do you need to play the second note in that measure?

!/4 note = 1 = Down
Two 1/8 notes = 1 + = Down, Up.

I think the second note is meant to be beat one but........

Looking at Blocks 1 and 3 the alternate picking pattern is reversed in Block 2....... as explained in the lesson.

In Measure 8:
If I start with the 1/8 note as an +, that means I now have two consecutive + (Up's) which breaks the alternate picking pattern.
