I wondered about this, too. But I didn't ask because I pretty much assumed it was the copyright issue. I further assume that if that's the case, Neil probably doesn't want to comment on it in public. I just hope that the extant lessons will stay in place -- there are enough of them to last me a lifetime, literally. And I am (thanks mostly to this site!) technically an "advanced" player. (Probably more like intermediate who can play some advanced stuff.)

On the other hand, we're still getting some new lessons on copyrighted stuff, so maybe that's not it at all.

I miss seeing new song lessons on a regular basis, but since there are already more here than I can ever hope to get to, it doesn't diminish the usefulness of the site for me. There are lots of lessons not here that I wish were, but that would be the case even if 10 new lessons were posted every day for 10 years.

So adding a new songlesson every week isn't on a regular basis?? :S You could've fooled me...

Besides my additions to Target, Neil has provided new lessons like évery week (maybe not the ones that some would like to see, but that's besides the point), even when he was on vacation...

Gosh........ :( .......that's a pretty depressing comment........

Hi everyone

Actually, I think it's all a matter of perception. Only a handful of TG clients go to the IGC, but recently the open mic video's appear to be dominating the 40 newest songs list. However, in reality the new songs and technique video's from Neil and Vanessa are still coming at a regular pace. That hasn't changed. There were so many requests from the regular forum users to see the open mic night videos, so I think that is why Neil made them available. Learning to play your guitar in front of an audience is very scary, but can be a big part of improving your technique. I really wish we had an open mic hangout available on the TG site, on a routine basis, for everyone who wanted to participate. :)

Well, I don't know if smileys or their absence have some kind of effect on some people's apprehension of written language, but the thrust of my comment was -- clearly, I thought -- that I'm not particularly bothered by the slowdown in song lessons because of all the great stuff that's already here. Obviously, by "regular," I meant "daily" or "near-daily," since that was the way it had been for years, and that's what we were talking about.

And all I said about the slowdown in new song lessons was that I somewhat miss the daily entertainment of seeing what's new -- but I said that in the same sentence where I expressed my overall deep satisfaction with what's available here. If that depresses you, sorry. Yeesh.

I haven't seen a change in weekly lessons.

I do think though the IGC stuff should be categorised separately.
Myself I found it fun to see what folks were up to last year.
It would have been nice to see sooner after the event though, in
it's own forum spot.

As for new lessons, I see no change in format.
Neil or Vanessa artist lessons or Neil with theory themed lessons.

Can anyone suggest more specifically what lessons would capture their interest more?

See what happens when Neil Takes a holiday !

Mutiny ......!!

UncleWalt - I know you value free speech and that you've got a thick skin, so I feel at liberty to respond here. You're comment pissed me off I have to say.

What planet are you living on man? How is it that at least two or three new lessons a week (and all the other stuff that Target members have access to) does not qualify as getting "new lessons on a regular basis". The material being delivered every week is way in excess of what Neil originally promised to give us all for our subscription. Neil and Ness are working their butts off to deliver the massive library of material that they provide us each and every week. Daily?!? Bloody hell they're not machines mate!

Neil and Ness put their all, their heart and soul, into all the good stuff they offer us. It's all gold.

I've still got a lot to learn (it's a daunting mountain at times) but I wouldn't be a 10th of the musician I am today without this site, without Neil and Vanessa's magic teaching. Their attention to detail, their passion for what they're teaching, their ability to break things down into learnable chunks, all the tools they give us so we can take learning into our own hands, well it's damn impressive. They inspire me the learn and improve with every lesson they post and frankly it comes at us so fast I simply can't keep up.

You're off your tree if you think that sort of detail and thoroughness can still be achieved while delivering seven lessons a week or whatever you think the magic number is to make it "regular".

If the lessons you want aren't there yet, recommend them, hell get creative start a campaign on the forum to get votes for your favourites (it's worked for others). Or post a video and take advantage of the opportunity to get feedback on your playing. Where else do your see that?

You've got a damn strange definition of "regular" if everything that Neil and Ness are doing every week to help us be better guitarist doesn't qualify.

Rant over! (Hopefully my meaning wasn't lost due to the lack of emoticons)

Excellent rant Michelle, you're spot on. I love that saying BLOODY HELL. We don't say that enough here in America.

Unclewalt. It's good to speak up when something is bugging you, but you just have to be willing to take your lumps when others disagree. You can only effect change if you're willing to speak up. Of course you'll have to hear the words bloody hell and Dermot will probably put up a cartoon about you. Every guitar player on this site is important.

I completely agree with what you are saying. There was a time when this was by far the best site on the internet. Not so sure anymore. When there were a variety of lessons across all types of music I really enjoyed coming to the site. Yes, I understand that there is more than enough to learn on the site, but I like to keep learning new things. No one has inspired me more in my guitar journey than Neil. Please mix up the lessons like before. Just every now and then is all I am asking.
