Vanessa,
Thanks for the thumbs up. I was happy to add my pirate lyrics to the collection. Putting it to music? That terrifies me, although Neil broke things down pretty nicely on how to do it in the lesson.
Sandy,
Yeah, they're for the progression with Bb as an alternative to yours. Yours are just fine, but these were along the idea of alternative lyrics to the same music. I won't be posting it though. That idea terrifies me even more. I just thought it would be fun to throw them in with the others. But if anyone would like to set them to Neil's music, that would be fun to watch too.

Here's my attempt at a pirate song (sung to Octopus's Garden). I'm not as clever as Michele, Tom, Sandy, Jean, and others. I can't write completely original lyrics so I slightly modify existing ones!
I'd like to be out on the sea
With the TG pirates sailing with the crew
We’d have a ball, at port-of-call
With the TG pirates sailing with the crew
I'd ask my friends to sail the seas
With Jolly Rogers, Sandy and me
I'd like to be out on the sea
With the TG pirates sailing with the crew
We would be warm singing our songs
While our guitars serenade beneath the stars
Playing our tunes under the moon
With the TG pirates strumming their guitars
We would sing and dance around
Because we know we’ve made that sound
I'd like to be out on the sea
With the TG pirates sailing with the crew
We would play and sing along
A pirate love song timed with the waves
(In time with the ocean waves)
Oh what joy with every pirate’s ploy
Knowing we’re happy and we’re safe
(Happy and we’re safe)
We would be so happy you and me
No one there to tell us what to do
I'd like to be out on the sea
With the TG pirates sailing, with you
With the TG pirates sailing, with you
With the TG pirates sailing, with you
I'd like to be out on the sea
With the TG pirates sailing with the crew
We’d have a ball, at port-of-call
With the TG pirates sailing with the crew
I'd ask my friends to sail the seas
With Jolly Rogers, Sandy and me
I'd like to be out on the sea

We would be warm singing our songs

With the TG pirates sailing, with you
I am a pirate, a pirates minstrel
Not with one leg or an hook,
Or with earring and tattoo.
Not with a wicked soul but one with a uke.
Sometimes my lips build a castle
Sometimes they just fall off
Whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh, whoa oh
Lets float this bloody old boat
Yo ho Yo oh, some of the lines I stole

Great stuff guys. Great lyrics. Bloody hell, you guys are great poets and song writers. I'm struggling with the melody part of song writing myself. I've tried a bunch of chord progressions but I don't quit have a feel for it yet I guess. I'm counting on one of you to be the first to put music to your lyrics and get us all over the hump mates.

Hey Sandy, I'm not good at this at all, first its the language and second to find music to it, but I will try and my idea for finding or writing music for this couplet is that i strum ones a chord and hum a bit, later I just strum the folkstrum and try to sing the words, i find singin with the folkstrum easy'rrrrr but! My idea for this verse was realy that it maybe could fit in with somebody his song, lets say if it turns out in an sort of colaboration.

Hi willem
Maybe we can get everyone to throw in one verse to create a single communal song, and then each of us can write a chord progress for the song, and we'll pick the one we like best. It's probably too may cooks in the kitchen, but it might be fun. Everyone could pull a verse from the song they've already written. We might have to elect someone to edit the whole thing to make it work with the timing and such. It doesn't have to be perfect.

Interesting, I've been thinking about this. The track so far is drums, bass, and voice. Adding another repeating bass drone...maybe an A might sound OK, or might make it muddy. If you'd like to give it a go on the uke or guitar send me the track and I'll insert it into the track so far.Michele, maybe a one note(same heavy note, beefy note) drone in it, over the whole song, on every second and fourth beat ????

Have fun.
