Wow! Smiling big time here!!! :cheer: :) :cheer: :) :cheer:

That was awesome and I loved every second of it! Too cool that you got the playing and singing down all together. I also thought the guitar sounded just lovely!

Well done Shel, I'm honored that you posted a song of one of my lessons. ;)

I'd say: WE WANT MORE!!! :P

Hi Everyone,

Well it's about time we resurrected this thread. So I thought I'd add a song before 2014 ends for me, which is less than 2 hours away.

Sorry the sound quality isn't great (which seems to be even more blurry on youtube). Some alien force seems to be doing strange things with my face again too. No time to redo...

So here's a rendition of Iron and Wine's Naked As We Came. It is essentially 3 chords with a moving bass line. i think it's beautiful, very cool and it's fun to play. One day I'd learn the words by heart. :)

If you'd like to learn it, check out Vanessa's fantastic lesson.

Happy New Year! Anyone else want to sneak in some eleventh hour uploads for 2014?

Shel

I tried to use the busking video uploader, but no joy there.

Chris - thanks! I wasn't so sure about the singing. I'm really out of practice. So that was especially nice to hear from you. Want to play? :)

THANKS Nessa! I couldn't be happier with that response.

More you say? :) well I do have another of your lessons that I could do. How about, I'll post another if you post something? B) :P  Feel like posting something just for the fun of performing a cool song? I know you spend a heap of time doing everything required to deliver lessons to us and you may not have the time to spare, but I thought you might just like to get into the fun of playing a simple song again without all the extra prep work. :) you could even post something that you're considering as a lesson, but you don't know how popular it would be. Like a teeeeeaser. :) Anouk perhaps? Or there's always the Beatles, U2 and the Eagles. :) just a thought. :)

Thanks Jay. I just love hearing all of that. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I suspect you could do this one in your sleep.

Got any contribution for this thread that you'd like to share with us?

Happy playing.

Shel

Michele,

As a general practice, I try to keep my musical life simple by trying not to like fingerpicking pieces or nylon string guitars.

Double fail for me. :( :( :(

That bass line was exquisite. I loved it.

More More More Please! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Wrench - Thanks! That's some compliment then. :) it's a beautiful tune. It's magic how the moving Bassline makes it interesting and pulls it all together too. As fingerpicking goes, this is pretty straightforward, it's just one pattern (well the way I'm playing it anyway). Take a look at Vanessa's lesson. She breaks it down so well I'm sure you'll finding yourself playing it way sooner than you expected to.

Chris - WOW! ... What a sweetie you are. Thank you. Smiling here. :) :) :) :)

Happy New Year Michele, this is a wonderful rendition, the sound was really good at my end with the nylon string. very nice singing too. Did you already know the the lyrics? I am asking as Vanessa's lesson came out quite recently and yet you play and sing it as if you have been playing this song for years.

Very nice performance

Marc
