Greetings all. I was wondering if there is a source somewhere for jam along midi tracks ? If you have worn out your guitar buddy to be your rhythm slave are there tracks available somewhere for chord progressions in different keys, major and minor? Something that you can record into an 8 track or even just on your computer? Thanks.

Jam along midi tracks

MIDI files are just like tabs. They are just some person's interpretation and quality if all over the place.
One of the best ways to use MIDI files is to use Guitar Pro and import them. Then use the Realistic Sound Engine (RSE) to make them sound reasonable (but not outstanding very often). Like a good MIDI player you can turn on and off different instruments, like the lead guitar, so you can play that part.
My current favorite site is Yamaha's MIDI store. I'm at work and don't have the link but I can get it later. Their files are always good to excellent and the prices aren't too bad either. I guess you get what you pay for. They have a good selection of songs but it is by no means comprehensive.
The hardest thing I have found is getting newer music. It's easier to get MIDI's for the music on this site than it is for current modern music.
Finally, I'm with you, I love playing along to MIDI's. I bought a Yamaha keyboard that I could load MIDI's into and I can change keys, add or remove tracks etc. It's great!
Good luck and cheers! :cheer:
JJ- I've spent a lot of time researching this question and the results are all over the board. There are many, many free MIDI sites out there. The quality ranges from fair to awful. There are also professional MIDI sites that sell specific songs that range from fair to outstanding priced accordingly. But generally too expensive for the consumer.Greetings all. Groeten Willem!! I haven't used Band-in-a-Box but it is designed to accompany a musician in a variety of styles, particularly jazz. I'm not sure it is designed to play specific songs or if it generates its own songs based on key and style. It has received good reviews from users and is not terribly expensive.
Cheers!! :cheer:

There is a product out there called Stand Alone Tracks which comes, I believe, as a CD. The Stand Alone series includes various music genres such as blues, 70's rock, 90's rock, jazz, etc, and each set costs $13 US. I played around with the blues version several months ago, and it was fun learning how it works, but it was clear that I wasn't quite ready for it. Amazon sells it, so you can learn more about it if you are so inclined.

hi Bear, yes its for a keybordplayer i think, but there is a nice place in the program that turns a midi into visible chords(looks like a magic tric), chords not in notes but in characters and when you took a midikaroke you got the lirycs to on it,when you play off the midi it scrolls with you and you can try to play along because you see the chords, all this i have done with the demo version, willem wrote:i LIKE TO JAM WITH MIDI TRACKS, IN TIME I PURCHSAS ME GUITARPRO, BUT I WAS WONDERING IF THERE IS SOMEBODY THAT KNOWS ''BAND IN THE BOX'' WHEN YOU PUT IN THERE A MIDI FILE YOU CAN GET A CHORD PROGRESSION SHEET....
