Greetings all. I was wondering if there is a source somewhere for jam along midi tracks ? If you have worn out your guitar buddy to be your rhythm slave are there tracks available somewhere for chord progressions in different keys, major and minor? Something that you can record into an 8 track or even just on your computer? Thanks.

JJ- I've spent a lot of time researching this question and the results are all over the board. There are many, many free MIDI sites out there. The quality ranges from fair to awful. There are also professional MIDI sites that sell specific songs that range from fair to outstanding priced accordingly. But generally too expensive for the consumer.Greetings all. MIDI files are just like tabs. They are just some person's interpretation and quality if all over the place.

I'm not sure it is designed to play specific songs or if it generates its own songs based on key and style. It has received good reviews from users and is not terribly expensive.

There is a product out there called Stand Alone Tracks which comes, I believe, as a CD. The Stand Alone series includes various music genres such as blues, 70's rock, 90's rock, jazz, etc, and each set costs $13 US. I played around with the blues version several months ago, and it was fun learning how it works, but it was clear that I wasn't quite ready for it. Amazon sells it, so you can learn more about it if you are so inclined.
