You guys and gals ready are the best. Posting is so rewarding. You're always so generous and it just inspires me to do more SO a big thanks to everyone.

Chas - Thanks mate. it's an easy instrument to get into. Got UAS yet? I spy a place on you wall (or two) where it would be just perfect. It does sound nice I think and as you'd expect the sound is improving as I'm playing it. Of course that could also be because my fingers are adapting too. I think you'd like playing a ukulele, and it's probably not too different from the contortions that your fingers are currently doing for the mandolin.

Willem - I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for commenting, sounds like you had a great night. I loved your Elvis number, it sounded very cool. I hope you get your ukulele soon so you can add a song ot this thread.

Marc - Thanks! You're so sweet. I'm sure it's possible to rock out on a uke. I'd love to see you try. I wonder if Jethro Tull ever used a ukulele in their songs? I'm not sure how I teased you at the end. Perhaps you mean how I stumbled at the end and then cracked up. I kept doing that so I just figured I'd post it anyway.

Chris - Thanks Chris, coming from you that means a lot to me! It is fun. The strings are nylon and you don't need a pick so it's right down your alley. I'm glad it made you smile. That's the idea.

Suzi - You wowed me with your WOW woman, thanks! :) It's not complicated. There is sort of a lesson, a chord sheet and chord diagrams and a bit of a play through from Michelle Kibe the 'Ukulele Lady'. The TG help desk is currently hunting to see if there is an actual lesson, so more may appear later. Still what's there helps. You just need to work out the most efficient fingering to use to transition smoothly between a couple of the chords and you're there. It wouldn't take you long to get it down at all I'm sure. And I can wait til September. Well with eager anticipation, but I can be patient sometimes. I'll remind you, if we don't see anything around that time though so you're not off the hook :) You're absolutely right, it was easier to pick up than I expected. Working out what the chord shapes become when you transpose them by a fourth is fun too. thanks sweetie.

Daryl - Thank you! It is a sweet little guitar. In fact the guy I purchased it from wasn't too happy about me putting a low-G string on it because he though I would make it a little guitar rather than a ukulele. But hey, I can always change it back if I become a purist at some point. Flubs...yep more than a couple, but less than the takes I discarded. Thanks.

Nessa No uke in the house, what???? So many guitars and other instruments and no uke???? Are you sure??? Hmmm... Maybe you could borrow one. You're not holding out on us are you? You know I bet that music stores in Holland have them. And thanks!!! I'm really glad you liked it. You thinking it's 'super cool' is just fabulous and makes my evening big time. B) :) you would have been the CUTEST little kid playing a uke. I wish I could have seen that. Thanks!

Ken - thanks. As a guitar player I think you'll find the ukulele easier than you expect. You fingers just adjust. It's a lot of fun too. I hope you are thinking about adding a song, even if you have to go out and get a uke first. Thanks.

Jay - thanks! Man you would have a ball with this. Finger picking is fun and sounds good. It si fun and I'm finding that it does help with the guitar too, even if switching back feels strange.

Thanks everyone. You're all so sweet.

:) :) :) :) :) :)

Fantastic! When you told me that you were working on Dream a Little Dream, I was picturing maybe three or four easily strummed chords in the entire song -- but what you were playing looks pretty complicated and action-packed. Best of all, it sounded great.

I honestly don't know what you're thinking sometimes when you say that you can't play and sing at the same time. You did a terrific job with this song.

Finally, on behalf of the entire TG community, I want to thank you for inviting us all into your shower. Would two of us at a time work out?

Good Job Michele. It certainly sounded like "Dream a little Dream" to me. So if it is recognizable, it must be acceptable. At first, I thought it was going to be another thread about pic's.

And just like Vanessa in her busking Tracy vid, that laught at the end that just couldn't be contained, added that personal touch that we just don't get from these sterile little written words in a thread.

Not sure if or when I'll ever get me a little uke, but I'm sure glad you shared with us your first song. And yes the singing and playing did go well together. No worries.

Now for that shower version.............

Great job, Michele. Well done on picking this tune up so quickly and getting to grips with the simultaneous singing and playing. And it was nice to see you having so much fun with it - put a big smile on my face too.

Geez, can't hardly afford to be late to the party....you're too popular! (Good problem to have I reckon.)

I thought you sounded great on this! Some tricky jazzy chords and in there and you handled 'em like a champ!
I like your singing with the sound of the uke. (Not that I don't the guitar. either.)
But something about the timbre of your voice fits rather nicely with the uke.
Really, really great job!!! A very fun post...

You've got me scrambling to figure out what uke tune I'm gonna do.

Nice job Michelle! You put a smile on my face, what a nice way to start my Sunday morning! I would never guess that you've only had a Uke for a week or so... I look forward to your next tune!
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks everyone. It was so nice to see your comments this morning. You made my day. Sorry it's taken me so long to respond to you all.

Dennis - sneaking in with a comment just after I'd responded eh? I think I was actually IN the shower when you wrote that, perhaps even singing this song. I'm not sure when the next shower performance will be, they are a bit impromptu... difficult sort of thing to plan for ... So if you can't get here from Seattle in a couple of minutes of the performance starting I'm afraid you'll miss out. Oh, and no cheating and willing me over to your place while I'm in the shower. That is DEFINITELY against the rules of the Music Genie wish communication protocol. Thanks for your sweet, sweet comments. Thank you! I can always rely on you to bring a big smile to my face and a wicked chuckle. And you've encouraged my playing and especially my singing as much as anyone. By the way I'm listening to "Longing to Belonging' right now. It's beautiful. Thanks mate. :) Hey! Does Taylor make a ukulele? With the uke-mania developing or likely to you might just score a few more commissions.

Scott - Don't tell me you're sick of seeing picks? The Dutchies I can understand... Well I generally try to leave the laughing and smiles in to offset the grimaces and my 'oh so serious' image. I did have to edit the video a little to make it fit for a family site (a little too much personal). I'm glad you liked it and recognised the tune. I'm hoping you do get a uke. Same shower rules as Dennis. Thanks for the nice comments.

Stuart - Thanks mate. It was fun actually, more fun than I actually relayed in the video. Hey I'm SURE you can play sad songs on a ukulele - I mean REALLY sad songs. But, you should test that theory. Thanks :)

Cori - Fantastic! I KNEW I could rely on you to come to my ukulele party. I can't wait to see what you do and to see the sweet musical pineapple in action. Thanks for the enthusiastic comments and for supporting my singing. You're a gem!

Craig - I'm adding you to the sweetie list - there are a LOT of TG members on there you won't be lonely. I'm glad you liked it and that it brought a smile to your face. I love doing that. Thanks. What's next for you?

Thanks everyone. It sure was great reading you responses. I'm hoping that some of you will take up the challenge in addition to our man Cori.

:)

Michele

Can't play and sing you say. Well I think you can and you did it well. Overall It sounded really good. Lots of sound for a small instrument. You had fun at the end I see.

How did I miss this on the first round ? This is just great, I am not a big fan of the uke but I would listen to this often.
